B.J. Ryan, who has missed most of this season following Tommy John surgery, continues to rehab his left elbow. "He's four months post-op and he's throwing from 40 feet," GM J.P. Ricciardi told the Toronto Sun. "I guess he's right on schedule." Ryan is reportedly on track to be ready for spring training next year, although expecting him back that soon may be a bit optimistic.

B.J. Ryan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on Thursday, according to the AP. Ryan began having left elbow trouble in March, but he pitched five games at the start of the season before landing on the disabled list. Initial reports called for him to miss six weeks, but Dr. Timothy Kremchek in Cincinnati performed the ligament-replacement operation on Thursday and ended the closer's season. The Jays expect Ryan to be ready for spring training in 2008, although that may be wishful thinking.

B.J. Ryan won't throw for four weeks while he rehabs his elbow with exercise, according to the AP. He's expected to miss six weeks of action. "It's tough," Ryan said. "You pride yourself on that aspect of your career that I haven't been on the DL, but some things are out of your control."

B.J. Ryan breezed through one inning of work Thursday in a Double-A game, getting three outs on just eight pitches. B.J. Ryan was able to throw off a mound yesterday for the first time since straining his lower back, according to the Toronto Sun. "He threw very, very good," manager John Gibbons said. B.J. Ryan, who is dealing with a sore back, won't pitch within the next couple of days, according to the Blue Jays website. "There's no reason that we need to put him on a mound right now." There is no exact timetable for Ryan's return.
