With rumors about B.J. Ryan being actively shopped by the Blue Jays, Toronto GM J.P. Ricciardi said that trading Ryan is not a priority right now, according to the Toronto Star.

Our View:Ryan is due to make $20 million over the next two seasons. While he has been a solid closer when healthy, his injury issues would make him a risky acquisition for any team.
September 18, 2008
For the second straight night B.J. Ryan shut the door for the Blue Jays in their 3-2 win. The save was Ryan's 31st of the year.

Our View:The save on Thursday night was Ryan's sixth already in the month of September. Ryan's six saves are the most of any month this season other than May when he recorded 10. The 2008 season for Ryan has been up and down but still has been a solid closer.
September 17, 2008
B.J. Ryan pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to protect an 8-7 lead and escape with his 30th save of the season as the Blue Jays defeated the Orioles on Wednesday.

Our View:It was his fifth save of the month, which makes it his best month of the season outside of May when Ryan was 1-0 with 10 saves. Entering Wednesday night's contest he had a 6.43 ERA for September. Ryan's 2008 has been far from consistent.
September 7, 2008
B.J. Ryan has had a relatively successful season as the Blue Jays closer, but his lack of command has been a bit of an issue, according to BlueJays.com. "It's not a velocity issue. It's his command. I had the surgery, and I know sometimes you lose a little bit of a feel for the ball," said Jays pitching coach Brad Arnsberg.

Our View:Ryan has walked 4.33 batters per nine innings, but he is also striking out nearly nine. He isn't as dominant as he once was, but remains a quality option for fantasy owners.
September 6, 2008
B.J. Ryan blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning of Saturday night's game against Tampa Bay. He struck out two, walked one and allowed one hit - a two-run shot to Rocco Baldelli.

Our View:It was the fourth time in five nights the veteran was called upon so its likely he was a little fatigued. Expect him to get a couple nights off.
