The AP has confirmed that Kyle Lohse has agreed to a four-year, $41 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Our View:Lohse was 15-6 with a 3.78 ERA this season and led the staff with 200 innings. This figures to be the first of many free agent moves for St. Louis this offseason. The club has nearly $40 million coming off the books.

The Cardinals have signed Kyle Lohse to a four-year, $41 million contract extension, according to the AP.

Our View:Lohse got the deal he wanted, it just took him another year. He is a solid middle of the rotation guy, but we have likely seen all he has to offer.

Kyle Lohse, who will become a free agent this offseason, could already be nearing a deal to return to the St. Louis Cardinals according to the AP. He was scratched from his start on Sunday because Cardinals' management wanted him to meet with doctors to undergo a physical exam. "It's a good sign that he had an exam," Cards manager Tony La Russa said. "Evidently, they're getting into a serious conversation, but I don't think the deed is done. I don't want to take that for granted."

Our View:Lohse was one of the better pitchers going before a rough August. He went 1-3 with a 4.66 ERA during his down month but rebounded in four September starts by going 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA. There are a lot of quality starters on the market this winter and coming to terms on a deal so soon would be an indication that both sides are happy.

Kyle Lohse has been scratched from Sunday's start to undergo an exam that could be the herald of a contract extension with the team for the pending free-agent pitcher, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The team did not disclose the specifics of the exam. Brad Thompson takes the hill in his place.

Kyle Lohse picked up his 15th win Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings in a 7-4 win over Arizona.

Our View:Lohse has exceeded expectations for the Cards and fantasy owners this year and will be due for a big payday this offseason.
