Player Notes
March 15, 2010
Ben Sheets noted that his arm feels strong right now, but his command needs work, according to Jon Morosi's twitter page.

Our View:Sheets was lit up for nine earned runs today against Cincinnati, and was taken out before he recorded any outs - but his velocity hit over 90-mph on the radar gun. He was tagged for six earned runs over 2.2 innings in his previous outing versus the White Sox, and the former ace hurler should not be drafted too high as a fantasy flier.
March 10, 2010
Ben Sheets was lit up for six runs (five earned) on five hits over 2.2 innings in today's 9-5 preseason loss to the White Sox. He had one walk and no strikeouts.

Our View:This marked his second game of spring training, and he allowed two runs (one earned) in his previous outing against Milwaukee. He fared much worse today, but should still be Oakland's starting hurler for opening day.
March 5, 2010
Ben Sheets allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over 1.2 innings in today's game against Milwaukee. He had no walks and one strikeout.

Our View:Sheets ran into some trouble, but still showed pretty good control, as he did not issue any walks. That marked his first game action in 17 months, and has been recovering from surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon. The former ace hurler noted that he felt great, and remains slated to start opening day for Oakland. He is worth targeting as a flier for fantasy leagues.

Ben Sheets threw live batting practice for the first time of spring training on Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:The A's staff was impressed with Sheets' velocity, and his first pitch flew right by the batter. The former ace hurler's comeback continues to go well, and he should be targeted as a flier for fantasy leagues - but just make sure you do not overpay to be safe.
February 24, 2010
Ben Sheets threw a bullpen session Wednesday, according to Susan Slusser's (San Francisco Chronicle) twitter page.

Our View:Sheets used all of his pitches, and skipper Bob Geren noted that he climbed the ladder. The former ace hurler's comeback is going fine so far, and he will be worth targeting as a flier in fantasy leagues. He should benefit from playing his home games at pitcher-friendly McAfee Coliseum.
