Xavier Nady will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a partial tear in a ligament in his right elbow, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He is slated for surgery July 8, and will be headed for a lengthy recovery. This is unfortunate for Nady as he will become a free agent after the season.

The New York Post is reporting that Xavier Nady will need to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery after suffering a setback in his minor league rehab assignment Thursday. He has been dealing with a partial tear in the ligament in his right elbow.

Our View:Skipper Joe Girardi noted that he is more disappointed for Nady than he is for the Yankees. The 32-year-old outfielder may miss a significant chunk of the 2010 campaign as well.

Xavier Nady was forced to exit Thursday's minor league rehab game after injuring his right elbow on a throw from the outfield, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View:The 32-year-old outfielder will undergo tests Friday after suffering the setback, and he may be headed for Tommy John surgery. Nady has been trying to avoid surgery for a partial tear in the ligament in his right elbow.

According to the Journal News, Yankees' outfielder Xavier Nady played seven innings in right field for Triple-A Scranton on Wednesday. Nady went 1-for-3 with a double at the plate and did not see any action in right field.

Our View:The Yanks know Nady is capable of hitting, so they are probably a little disappointed that he didn't get any action in right field. It sounds like he is progressing well, so assuming things stay on course he could be back within the next week or so.

Xavier Nady is set to start his minor league rehab assignment Wednesday, according to Tyler Kepner's twitter page. He is recovering from a partially torn elbow ligament.

Our View:Barring a setback, Nady could be ready to return to New York at some point next week. Nady has proven he is fit to roam the outfield again during an extended spring training game over the weekend.
