Player Notes
July 14, 2008
Josh Hamilton hit a record 28 long balls in the first round of Monday's Home Run Derby. The previous record holder was Bobby Abreu, who hit 24 in one round in 2005.

Our View:Wow. Just wow. It doesn't even matter if Josh ends up winning this event.

The Rangers took the 9-7 loss against the White Sox on the chin, but outfielder Josh Hamilton is still working as one of the best in the game, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and his seventh stolen base of the season.

Our View:Hamilton has boosted his average this month a bit, hitting .317 thus far in July, but the run production keeps us coming back. Through his last 15 games, Hamilton has failed to post at least one RBI just three times.

Josh Hamilton just won't slow down. On Friday he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run.

Our View:The Natural keeps at itas he is nearinf 100 RBI at the break.

Josh Hamilton hit a game-winning home run on Wednesday night as he continues to mash pitchers at a prolific rate for a player who was out of the game for 3 1/2 years due to personal problems, according to MLB.com.

Our View:For all the good, and that includes a .307-20-89 line in just 89 games, Hamilton has only gone deep once in his last 70 AB. While it is logical to expect a step back in his production, there is no reason to believe he will fall completely apart though there is some concern given that his current AB total of 358 is his highest mark since a career-high 391 in 2000 at Single -A ball.

Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, helping the Texas Rangers rally to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 on Wednesday night. It was Hamilton's 20th homer of the season, and his first since June 17.

Our View:The home run wasn't a surprise, it was who he hit it off that came as a shock. Hamilton beat major league saves leader Francisco Rodriguez sending the right-handed All Star to only his only his second loss and third blown chance this year.
