Player Notes
June 23, 2008
Josh Beckett was terrific on Monday, but it wasn't enough. The righty allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over eight innings, but he was trumped by Dan Haren.

Our View:Beckett was a tough-luck loser tonight, but with 36 wins over the previous two seasons, he has been the beneficiary of good luck in the past.

Josh Beckett will take the hill tonight when the Red Sox host the Diamondbacks at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Beckett is 7-4 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 2008, but is 1-3 with a 5.65 ERA in five starts against Arizona.

Our View:His only win against Arizona did come last season as he only allowed two earned runs over eight innings, and he hurled seven scoreless innings in his last start against Cincinnati. Keep him active in your lineups.
June 18, 2008
Due to an off-day on Thursday, the Red Sox will shift around their rotation and push Josh Beckett to Monday, the Boston Globe reports. Tim Wakefield, Daisuke Matsuzaka, and Jon Lester will pitch this weekend. "We talk about building in rest," manager Terry Francona says. "Josh knew all along. He's fine."

Our View:Beckett is now in line to start twice next week, rather than twice this week. It's not big news unless your fantasy league allows daily transactions.
June 15, 2008
Josh Beckett received plenty of run support in his first career victory over the Reds, who hit him hard the two times he faced them with Florida. Beckett allowed six hits, walked two and struck out six over seven scoreless innings.

Our View:Beckett won his seventh game against four losses and improved his ERA from 4.22 to 3.87 in the effort.
June 10, 2008
Josh Beckett will make his 12th start of the season tonight against the Orioles at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com. Beckett is 6-4 with a 4.07 ERA and 1.10 WHIP this season.

Our View:Beckett has only allowed five earned runs in his last 19 innings of work, with 24 strikeouts over the span. Keep him active in your rotation against the 31-31 Orioles.
