The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that David Eckstein was taken for X-rays and a scan of his shoulder before heading to New York for tonight's Game 6 against the Mets. He sprained his left shoulder while diving for a grounder in the first inning last night. Eckstein also bruised three fingers on his right hand on a bunt attempt in the eighth inning. The results of the tests weren't immediately released.

"I started feeling good about two days ago," he said. "I went out there and I can pretty much do everything I need to do. They wanted me to repeat it the last two days, I did it, and I got the green light for today." Eckstein had three hits, including a homer, in his return to the lineup.

"(It is) not as bad, just sore in the area but I have a lot more movement," said Eckstein. "I can rotate without pain. That's a lot better than the last two games.
