The Baltimore Orioles have looked into acquiring shortstop David Eckstein from the Blue Jays, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:It is well known that Toronto is looking to offload Eckstein and his $4.5 million salary. However, in terms of fantasy play, his move to Baltimore would do very little to increase his value.
July 3, 2008
The Blue Jays are not satisfied with the play of shortstop David Eckstein, and are actively searching for a shortstop in the trade market, according to the Toronto Sun.

Our View:Eckstein just does not bring much to the table in terms of fantasy value. In deep AL-only leagues, he may be someone to think about, but in mixed leagues, there are better options to have on your team.
May 27, 2008
The Blue Jays have activated shortstop David Eckstein who is in the lineup for Toronto this evening versus Oakland, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Eckstein went on the disabled list on May 8 with a strained right hip flexor, which he tested in five rehab games before being cleared. Manager John Gibbons plans to be cautious with Eckstein, batting .246 with one home run and 12 RBIs in 30 games this year. He'll likely sit out Wednesday night's middle game against the Oakland Athletics and play again in a day game Thursday.
May 26, 2008
David Eckstein , who was expected to return from the disabled list today, will be activated before Tuesday's game at Oakland. The starting shortstop has been rehabbing a hip flexor injury that resulted in him missing the last two weeks.

Our View:Eckstein is expected to return to his starting role at shortstop despite the solid performance of utilty infielder Marco Scutaro.
May 23, 2008
Manager John Gibbons said David Eckstein could be activated from the DL on Monday, according to the AP. The shortstop is coming back from a hip flexor injury.

Our View:Eckstein is expected to bat at the bottom of the order when he returns.
