Manny Ramirez went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in Los Angeles' exhibition game in Taiwan on Sunday.

Our View:Maybe a trip to Taiwan is all he needed to get going. When drafting Manny this spring, proceed with great caution, as it is highly unclear which Manny is going to show up this season: Hall-of-Fame slugger, or post steroid-suspension hollowed out shell.

Manny Ramirez will be the Dodgers' designated hitter in their Cactus League opener on Friday, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:A sobering reminder of the position he will not be able to play for the Dodgers this season. Manny's always dubious defensive "skills" have eroded to the point of nearly nonexistent in recent seasons, and if his bat does not come back to its pre-steroid suspension levels, you have to begin to wonder if his atrocious play in the field is really worth it.

The Dodgers, whose projected opening day payroll of $107 million is $25 million lower than last season's, plan to keep player spending relatively stagnant until at least 2018, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Our View:That via internal team documents that have become available through team owner Frank McCourt's divorce trial. The documents show that the Dodgers plan to increase team revenue by over $230 million between now and 2018, but barely raise payroll. If this actually ends up being case, Dodgers fans can say goodbye to annually competing and goodbye to many high-end players.

Manny Ramirez claimed on Monday that 2010 will be his last season with the Dodgers, according to ESPN.com. "I won't be here next year, so I just want to enjoy myself," Ramirez said. "I don't know [if I'll play next year]. I just know I'm not going to be here. When the season is over, I will see where I'm at."

Our View:Ramirez said that he's been told that the Dodgers do not plan on re-signing him after his contract expires, and given that he turns 38 this May, you can't blame them. A lot regarding Manny's decision will surely be determined by how effective he plays this season, though it seems likely that he'll end up as a designated hitter in the American League next year, that is, if he doesn't opt to retire.

Dodgers third base coach Larry Bowa believes Manny Ramirez wants to play three or four more seasons in the major leagues, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Good luck with that, Manny. Always lost in the field, he looked lost in the batter's box last season after returning from his 50-game suspension for using a banned substance. Unless Manny has figured out a non-illegal way to get that extra pop back into his bat this offseason, he could be headed for a disastrous 2010. He is a very risky early-round pick.

According to MLB.com, the Dodgers plan on giving veterans Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake more frequent days off this season.

Our View:With the Dodgers' acquisition of outfielder Reed Johnson, they now have an extra body to add into their rotation, allowing Man-Ram and Blake some extra time off. Manny complained of fatigue and his legs wearing down last year, so this should help remedy that. He'll be a more complicated fantasy own this year, as you'll have to monitor his off days, but he should still be a productive OF option.
