The Orioles have talked to Chris Gomez's agent, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:The club is seeking a reserve infielder, and Willie Bloomquist could be another option for them if they do not pursue Gomez.

Chris Gomez hit his first home run of the season today against the Reds. The homer was Gomez's first of the season in over 170 at-bats.

Our View:Gomez doesn't have any fantasy value late in the season due to his abundance of strikeouts and the good play of Denard Span.

Chris Gomez will spend most of the spring playing shortstop, so the Pirates can decide whether they need to carry two backup infielders, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Gomez played 10 games at short, 10 at second, 31 at third and 44 at first last season.

The Pirates signed veteran utilityman Chris Gomez to a one-year deal Wednesday. Gomez hit .297 with a home run and 21 RBI in 92 combined games with Baltimore and Cleveland in '07.
