Geoff Blum was hitless in four at-bats before coming up in the 11th inning, when he hit a two-run home run off of Cubs closer Kerry Wood that wound up being the difference in the Astros 9-7 win over Chicago.

Our View:Blum has 14 home runs, but his average is .230, and his on-base percentage is well below .300, so he has minimal fantasy value.

Geoff Blum needs just one more plate appearance to ensure him $1.2 million for next season, according to Astros.com. Blum needed 250 plate appearances on the season for his contract for 2009 to be guaranteed, and he presently has 249.

Our View:That's nice for Blum, though we're not sure how the Astros feel about it. His 12 home runs are solid, but he is hitting .229 and has a putrid .269 on-base percentage.

The Astros pulled the 5-2 win over Ben Sheets and the Milwaukee Brewers this evening, an effort led by shortstop Geoff Blum. Blum went 1-for-3 at the dish, hitting his 12th home run of the season to total three RBIs and one runs scored on the night.

Our View:Blum hit just .196 last month but totaled four homers with 11 RBIs. Thus far in August he touts an improved average, .263, with three homers and 11 RBIs, and we still have a couple of weeks to go.

A night after hitting two home runs, Geoff Blum hit another. He was 2-for-3 with three RBI on the night.

Our View:He's a had a couple of excellent games but he is not considered an everyday player. He is hitting .232 on the season.

Geoff Blum went yard twice in a spot start during an 11-6 win over the Brewers on Sunday. He now has eight home runs on the year. He finished the day with four RBI.

Our View:Blum is not playing every day and does not warrant any fantasy attention. But, hey we admit it, two home runs is a pretty good day.
