Player Notes
July 10, 2008
Guillermo Mota will not be released by the Milwaukee Brewers as had been rumored, according to Brewers.com. "We're going to keep working with him, make him better," Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said.

Our View:Mota has been terrible this season, and should not be considered for fantasy rosters.
July 10, 2008
Guillermo Mota gave up four runs and two home runs in Wednesday's game against Colorado and may be designated for assignment today, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Mota has been bad this season, and awful recently. He has given up nine earned runs in his last four innings and has no business being on a fantasy roster.
July 5, 2008
The Brewers are worried that reliever Guillermo Mota may be tipping his pitches, as he's been hit hard recently. "His stuff has been really, really good, but he has not been productive. It kind of boggles my mind," manager Ned Yost tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Mota was solid through April and May, but he didn't have a very good June and has been awful in two outings this July. It's possible that he watched Eric Gagne and Derrick Turnbow and just figured that he was supposed to pitch this way. Anyway, Mota has no fantasy value.
July 3, 2008
Three Brewers pitchers failed to record an out as seven consecutive Diamondbacks reached base in the ninth, the most responsible for the Milwaukee collapse was Guillermo Mota. Salomon Torres (4-2) suffered the loss allowing Conner Jackson to hit a ground ball up the middle, through a drawn-in infield, and the Diamondbacks kept their small lead in the NL West and returned to the .500 mark (43-43).

Our View:Mota didn't have anything. He allowed two hits and a walk before departing the game shaking his head. The right-hander hasn't been very good the entire season. His 4.22 ERA coming into Thursday's game included 16 walks in only 32 innings of work.
May 12, 2008
Right-hander Guillermo Mota came into Monday's game against the Cardinals with the bases loaded and struck out center fielder Rick Ankiel for his first save of the season.

Our View:The Brewers are going with "closer by committee" since removing Eric Gagne from the role this weekend. Mota, Mitch Stetter, David Riske, Brian Shouse and Salomon Torres are all in line to receive situational saves.
