Shortstop Adam Everett will be a free agent after the season, and the Twins are unlikely to resign him, according to TwinsBaseball.com.

Our View:Everett has never been a good hitter, and his average was .213 this year. His penchant has always been fielding, and he didn't even do that very well in 2008, sporting a fielding percentage of .967.

Adam Everett is out on Tuesday and will also sit on Wednesday due to a bruised right hand, the AP reports.

Our View:Everett is about to see a reduction in playing time, too. Alexi Casilla could be back as soon as Wednesday, and the Twins will find time for Nick Punto at short.

Adam Everett started his sixth straight game at shortstop Tuesday with Brendan Harris out of the lineup for the third straight, according to the Star Tribune. Manager Ron Gardenhire said, "We signed Everett to play shortstop. I think we're starting to see the guy we signed, finally healthy or almost healthy. The arm strength's not totally there, but we're getting a little bit of what we hoped from the beginning until all the shoulder injuries came."

Our View:Everett has registered a hit in all six games, with two RBI coming in each of his last three. He is worth starting in AL-only leagues while he is hot.
