Our View:Hillenbrand is only a utility quality player now, and shouldn't hold any fantasy value for 2009.

Shea Hillenbrand figures to be the regular third baseman for the Dodgers while Nomar Garciaparra is on the disabled list. Hillenbrand had a triple and a walk in four plate appearances Tuesday.

The Dodgers recalled Shea Hillenbrand from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. He hit .254 with three homers and 22 RBI in 53 games with the Angels earlier this year and was signed by Los Angeles on Saturday after being cut by the Padres.

Our View:He'll give the Dodgers a veteran bat off the bench as they try to resurrect some kind of offense.

Shea Hillenbrand has signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. Hillenbrand, who was cut loose Wednesday by the Padres after signing a minor league contract with them a few weeks ago, will report to Triple-A Las Vegas. Considering he hit .254 with the Angels earlier this season before hitting just .147 in nine games with Triple-A Portland, he's barely worth keeping an eye on.
