July 4, 2009
MLB.com is reporting that the Indians are expected to designate pitcher Matt Herges for assignment to make room for the newly acquired Wilson Abreu. Herges is 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA this season.

Our View:Herges isn't having a terrible season, so this seems like an interesting move. The Indians' bullpen has been awful, but Herges is hardly the one causing it. He has no fantasy value, but don't be shocked if he gets picked up by another team.
May 6, 2009
Matt Herges has been recalled to fulfill the roster spot vacated by the demotion of Rafael Perez, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Herges is no more than a league average middle reliever, and his '07 season was an anomaly. There's no fantasy value here.
January 16, 2009
Matt Herges has signed a minor league deal with the Indians, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View:Herges will be invited to spring training and will compete for the seventh (and final) spot in the bullpen. Either way, the 38-year-old reliever won't hold any fantasy value.
October 7, 2008
The Denver Post reports that the Rockies declined picking up Matt Herges' option for next season.

Our View:The veteran right-hander went 3-4 with a 5.04 ERA in 58 games in 2008.
August 28, 2008
Matt Herges, who is recovering from lower back stiffness, flew to Las Vegas on Wednesday night to join Triple-A Colorado Springs for a rehab assignment, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:Herges is expected to be activated Tuesday, which is the first day he is eligible to come off the DL. He holds no fantasy value with a 5.09 ERA and poor 1.56 WHIP over 58.1 innings of relief.
