Player Notes
January 15, 2010
Mike Redmond has signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Indians to be the club's back-up catcher in 2010, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View:He is the first player Cleveland has signed to a major league deal this offseason. He will serve as the young Lou Marson's back-up after hitting .237 in 145 at-bats with the Twins in 2009. It could be a long season behind the plate in Cleveland.
December 5, 2009
Twins' GM Bill Smith stated that Mike Redmond will not be a member of the team in 2010, according to the Pioneer Press.

Our View:The 38-year-old catcher served five seasons in Minnesota. Jose Morales and Drew Butera are currently the top candidates to serve as the primary backup behind stud Joe Mauer for next season.
July 3, 2009
According to MLBlogs.com, Mike Redmond is dealing with a strained forearm and is not in the lineup for Friday's game.

Our View:Redmond injured the forearm in Wednesday's game and it is still apparently extremely sore. No word on whether he'll land on the DL or not, but don't expect him in the lineup any time soon.
July 1, 2009
Mike Redmond exited Wednesday's game against the Royals in the fifth inning after getting hit with a foul tip, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He was struck in the right forearm, and X-rays came back negative. He is considered day-to-day.
May 7, 2009
Making a start with Joe Mauer getting a day off to rest, Mike Redmond had two hits in two at-bats for the Twins on Wednesday night.

Our View:Redmond is hitting only .265 through 34 at-bats, and with the return of Mauer to the lineup he will resume his spot as a potentially valuable second catcher in AL-only leagues.
