The Royals have officially announced their signing of Scott Podsednik to a one-year, $1.75 million deal, according to their official site.

Our View:The deal includes incentives that can push it up to $2 million and also has a 2011 option. Expect Podsednik to serve as the Royals' starting center fielder, though he can play in left field as well. Either way, you can bet on him leading things off in their lineup and he should continue to be a nice, cheap source of speed come fantasy draft day.
January 8, 2010
Scott Podsednik will take a physical for the Royals today, after which the team is expected to announce his signing, according the MLB.com's Dick Kaegel.

Our View:Podsednik will enter as Kansas City's top center fielder. As long as he's due for at-bats, he'll always have some fantasy value due to his excellent speed.
January 7, 2010
GM Dayton Moore stated that the Royals are close to signing a "speedy" outfielder, according to 610 Sports Radio.

Our View:There is speculation Kansas City will be signing Scott Podsednik, who stole 30 bases with the division rival White Sox in 2009. The club also has Rick Ankiel and Randy Winn on their radar.
December 28, 2009
The Cubs remain interested in Scott Podsednik, according to ESPN Chicago.

Our View:The Cubs need to fill a hole in their outfield, and still have Marlon Byrd high on their list too. Ryan Spilborghs is the latest player on their radar. "Scotty Pods" is already a fan favorite in Chicago, as he led the rival White Sox to a World Series title back in 2005.
December 15, 2009
Scott Podsednik is believed to be on the Cubs' radar, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Podsednik batted .304 with the cross-town rival White Sox last season, and could be an option for the Cubs if they are unable to sign other outfield targets, such as Marlon Byrd and Rick Ankiel. He won't offer much power, but the 33-year-old vet can still steal bases.
