Joe Nelson's one-year deal with the Rays is now official, according to the Associated Press. Rays executive VP Andrew Friedman said, "We feel like Joe can really help our bullpen. He had a tremendous season in 2008 and has been very effective against both left-handed and right-handed hitters."

Our View:Nelson was a strong addition to the Rays' bullpen, but will only hold fantasy value in leagues that feature setup men and middle relievers.

Joe Nelson inked a one-year deal with the Rays on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald. The contract is worth $1.3 million.

Our View:Nelson won't have much fantasy value, primarily serving as a setup man or middle reliever, but he'll help sure up the Rays' bullpen, which was already solid in 2008.

The Rays are ranked in the top five on Joe Nelson's list of preferred destinations, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:19 MLB clubs have inquired about the strong reliever, including the Indians, Royals, Cardinals, Red Sox, Braves, and Mets. The Indians are also ranked high on his list, and reportedly made him an offer.

Cleveland is one of the four MLB clubs that Joe Nelson prefers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:The Indians made him an offer, but the details were not disclosed. Nelson held a solid 1.19 WHIP with Florida in 2008 and would make the Indians' bullpen even better after reeling in closer Kerry Wood.

The Marlins are leaving the door open for Joe Nelson to return next season, the Hot Stove Blog reports.

Our View:Nelson is likely to draw plenty of interest after posting a 2.00 ERA in 54 innings last season.
