Jim Thome with 2-for-3 against Pittsburgh on Thursday with his first home run of the spring.

Our View:Thome's getting up there in age, but there's little doubt that the man can still mash. It's still a bit unclear exactly how much playing time he'll get with the Twins, though he very well may play enough to garner value in AL-only leagues.
February 4, 2010
Jim Thome has officially signed his contract with the Twins, according to the Associated Press. He will earn $1.5MM on his one-year deal for 2010.

Our View:The veteran slugger is expected to serve most of his time as a pinch-hitter, but will also get some action in the DH role. Thome could spell Justin Morneau at first base as well, and was a nice bargain signing for Minnesota.
January 26, 2010
Jim Thome has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Twins, according to Kelsie Smith's (Pioneer Press) twitter page. It is incentive-laden.

Our View:So the veteran slugger returns to the AL Central after previously playing with the Indians and White Sox. Thome should add more power to an already strong club.
January 26, 2010
The Twins remain interested in free agent designated hitter Jim Thome, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:On the same day Thome's second most recent team, the White Sox, said they wouldn't be signing him, so did his first team, the Indians. However, there's enough smoke to this Minnesota story to expect it to soon turn into fire. Stay tuned.
January 26, 2010
The White Sox will officially not re-sign designated hitter Jim Thome at this time, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Manager Ozzie Guillen simply doesn't want to tie down his DH spot to one rapidly aging former star. Now that the Sox are out of the picture, expect speculation about Thome's future to again focus on Minnesota.
