The Mets have signed Jolbert Cabrera to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, according to the team's official site.

Our View:On one hand, Cabrera is 37 years old, though his ability to play both the infield and outfield certainly won't hurt his chances of making New York's roster.

Jolbert Cabrera has signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets. His deal includes an invitation to the team's major league spring training.

Our View:The 37-year-old infielder last appeared in the major leagues in 2008 with Cincinnati. He has played in just 48 games since 2004. A typical desperation Mets "depth" signing, he has a lifetime average of .257 in 1,406 at-bats.
April 3, 2009
Jolbert Cabrera has been reassigned to minor league camp by the Orioles, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Cabrera can play multiple positions and hit .252 over 115 at-bats in 2008, but the Orioles did not have a spot for him on their opening day roster.
January 12, 2009
Jolbert Cabrera has signed a minor league deal with the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun. He was also invited to spring training.

Our View:Cabrera spent 2008 with the Reds but only appeared in 48 games. He's a decent bench player due to his ability to play several positions. He played second base, third base, shortstop, and left and right field last year for Cincinnati.
September 6, 2008
Jolbert Cabrera hit a grand slam in his only at bat on Saturday off of Carlos Marmol.

Our View:It was just the second home run of the year for the 35 year old.
