New Yankees left-fielder Randy Winn hit just .158 against left-handed pitching for the Giants in 2009, and socked only two home runs in 538 total at-bats.

Our View:Meaning, even in the historically hitter-friendly new Yankee Stadium, he will struggle for fantasy value in AL-only leagues. There's a super-high probability that he will almost never be in the starting lineup against lefties, and an even higher one that the Yanks will upgrade his position before next summer's trading deadline. Don't be blinded by his donning of pinstripes - he's not a real fantasy option.

The Yankees have signed Randy Winn to a one-year contract worth around $2 million, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:It looks like the Yankees weren't joking around with Johnny Damon when they said they weren't looking to spend more than $2 million to fill their vacancy in left field. Winn struggled last season with a .262 batting average (.158 against lefties), though at 35, he still possesses fine speed and did hit .300 in both 2007 and 2008. He could make for a decent late-round fantasy selection given that he'll be transitioning from the Giants' shallow lineup to the Yankees' loaded one.

The Nationals are believed to be interested in Randy Winn, according to Ed Price's (Fanhouse) twitter page.

Our View:MLB writer William Ladson noted that Winn is yet to hear that Washington is interested in him though, and this news should be treated as speculation.
