Player Notes
October 5, 2008
Dewayne Wise had a hit, scored a run, stole a base and knocked in two batters in the White Sox 5-3 victory in Game 3.

Our View:Wise has been a key member of what the Sox are trying to do in the absence of slugger Carlos Quentin as he has infused the lineup with some speed, a little bit of defense, and the ability to play "small ball" to help the club score runs.
October 3, 2008
MLB.com reports that Dewayne Wise, who homered in Game 1 of the ALDS, will not be in the starting lineup for Game 2 on Friday. Ozzie Guillen is going to a right-handed heavy lineup with lefty Scott Kazmir on the mound. Nick Swisher takes Wise's spot in the outfield.

Our View:Wise could be inserted later in the game, likely as a defensive replacement. Expect to see this platoon as long as the White Sox are in the playoffs.
October 2, 2008
Dewayne Wise went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the ALDS at Tropicana Field.

Our View:He started in left field over Nick Swisher. He hit his first homer since September 19, when be collected two against the Royals.
September 21, 2008
Dewayne Wise had a hit, scored a run and stole his seventh base of the season in the White Sox 3-0 victory over the Royals.

Our View:Wise continues a fairly amazing late season run for the Sox with four home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored over his past seven appearances. If you need a little juice in an AL-only league, check the waiver-wire for his name.
September 19, 2008
Dewayne Wise hit two home runs in Kansas City on Friday night. They were both solo shots and give him four home runs in his last five games.

Our View:Wise only has five total round-trippers for the season! This surge is completely unexpected and should not be expected to last.
September 15, 2008
For the second straight game Dewayne Wise hit a home run, Monday's homer was his fourth on the year.

Our View:Wise is on a little bit of a streak but he has no fantasy value at this time.
September 14, 2008
Dewayne Wise hit a pinch-hit grand-slam off of Kyle Farnsworth in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the White Sox to an 11-7 victory, that after the blew a 7-0 lead.

Our View:Wise has hit only 12 home runs in 419 career AB, and none was bigger than this one for the career long backup.
September 5, 2008
Dewayne Wise has been activated from the DL, according to the AP. The 30-year-old hurler had been sidelined since August 21 with a strained left adductor.

Our View:Wise fared well with a .288 average (and two homers) over 66 at-bats with the Sox this season and should see action with Carlos Quentin potentially lost for the rest of the season due to a broken wrist. Wise also notced six stolen bases, and is worth a look in deeper AL-only leagues.
August 25, 2008
Dewayne Wise has been placed on the 15-day DL due to his strained left adductor, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Joe Crede was activated from the DL as the adjoining move.

Our View:Wise fared well during his stint with the club, as he held a .288 average with two homers and seven RBI over 66 at-bats, to go along with six stolen bases.
August 23, 2008
Manager Ozzie Guillen said the White Sox will decide Monday whether to make a roster move with Dewayne Wise, who left Wednesday's game after straining a muscle near his groin, according to the AP.

Our View:Wise hasn't played since the injury. He's given the Sox a bit of a lift as a bench player.
August 20, 2008
Dewayne Wise was forced out of Wednesday's game due to an apparent leg injury.

Our View:He was replaced in the outfield by Brian Anderson. We will keep you posted when more details regarding the injury are revealed.
July 6, 2008
Dewayne Wise continues to start against righties with Paul Konerko out of the lineup. He played another big part in a 4-3 victory over Rich Harden and the A's on Sunday. He was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Our View:Wise is 13-for-32 when starting against righties. He has earned praise from manager Ozzie Guillen and may likely stay in the bigs even after Paul Konerko returns.
June 27, 2008
Dewayne Wise, who was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte in mid-June is starting in center field for the White Sox today when the Cubs invade U.S. Cellular Field. Wise is hitting ninth in the batting order.

Our View:Wise has played in 11 games since arriving in Chicago but has only 22 at-bats. However, he has been productive hitting .364 with a home run, three RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases.
June 17, 2008
Dewayne Wise has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, according to MLB.com. He will fill the roster spot for Paul Konerko, who has been placed on the 15-day DL.

Our View:Wise went 0-for-6 in his previous stint with Chicago this season. He could see some action in the outfield if Nick Swisher covers first base for Konerko, but the 30-year old does not merit fantasy consideration.
May 31, 2008
Outfielder Dewayne Wise has been designated for assignment, according to the Miami Herald. Juan Uribe was activated from the 15-day DL on Saturday following a stint with Triple-A Charlotte.

Our View:Wise was 0-for-6 during his brief stint with Chicago.
May 28, 2008
Dewayne Wise will start in center field on Wednesday, when the Sox face the Indians in a 11:05 am CST contest.

Our View:Wise was called up a few days ago, and Ozzie Guillen is just giving him a token start on Wednesday. Fantasy owners shouldn't worry too much about him.
May 23, 2008
The White Sox purchased DeWayne Wise's contract from Triple-A Charlotte Friday. He was hitting .338 with eight homers, 18 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 43 games with Charlotte.

Our View:Wise will back up at all three outfield spots. He's not worth rostering in fantasy, despite his impressive Triple-A totals.
