Kiko Calero has signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets, according to David Lennon of Newsday.

Our View:After all the curious moves the Mets made this offseason, they have now made a very good one. While many are concerned with Calero's shoulder, he is coming off of a season that saw him post a 1.95 ERA and .180 batting average against in 60 innings pitched. If he can stay healthy, this could turn out to not only be a good move, but one of the best of the entire offseason.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the Cubs are not planning on rushing out to sign veteran bullpen help, despite the club's relief issues. This means they may shy away from free agent Kiko Calero.

Our View:The Cubs lost Kevin Gregg to free agency and promoted Carlos Marmol into the closer role, but their setup options are limited at the moment. While they are still open to adding someone before the season starts, they want to wait and see how Angel Guzman (shoulder) and Jeff Gray (groin) progress from their injuries.

Due to concerns over his shoulder, the Marlins are unlikely so sign Kiko Calero for the 2010 season, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Our View:That includes even to a minor-league deal. After Calero utterly dominated hitters in 2009 (1.95 ERA, 10.35 strikeouts per nine innings), however, expect someone to take a flier on him soon.

The Marlins have interest in re-signing Kiko Calero, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View:They would likely offer him a small deal though, as the club has concerns about the durability of his arm. His fantasy value would remain limited as a middle reliever.

According to Mychael Urban on Twitter, the Giants are not interested in free agent reliever Kiko Calero.

Our View:The Giants have spent a lot of money and made a lot of moves this offseason and the team announced they have shut the door on any other big league signings. Thus, they are out of the running for Calero. The Marlins and Cubs are still interested however, and the coveted reliever likely won't be unemployed for long.
