Player Notes
September 27, 2008
In Ted Lilly's last start before the playoffs, he went six innings giving up only one run on two hits in the Cubs' 7-3 win over the Brewers.

Our View:The win was Lilly's 17th of the year and now has won his last four straight decisions.
September 20, 2008
Ted Lilly allowed four earned runs on six hits over seven innings in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Lilly improves to 16-9, and has won three straight decisions.
September 15, 2008
Ted Lilly nearly matched Carlos Zambrano's no-no when the southpaw faced the Astros on Monday. Lilly did not allow a hit until the seventh inning and finished his day with just one single served up over seven frames. He walked one, struck out nine, and improved to 15-9.

Our View:Lilly opened his season at 0-4 with a 9.16 ERA through four starts. Since that awful beginning, he is 15-5 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 161 strikeouts over 173.0 innings. In other words, Lilly has been a much better fantasy hurler than many people probably realize.
September 15, 2008
Ted Lilly is 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA in five career games versus Houston and 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA against them this season. Lilly pitched fantastic in his last start, earning the win by going eight strong innings, allowing one earned run on five-hit ball while striking out five.

Our View:Lilly is 10-for-13 in quality starts since July 1st and 15-for-19 since June 1st, and a start Monday versus what appears to be a tired Astros' team is favorable.
September 10, 2008
Ted Lilly did it all on Wednesday night. He pitched eight innings allowing one one runs thanks to holding the Cardinals to five hits and no walks. He also trucked Yadier Molina at the plate in the second inning, though he failed to score.

Our View:Think he is more proud of running the catcher over or winning his 14th game? Lilly continues to be a solid third or fourth starter despite merely average ratios (4.29 ERA, 1.31 WHIP). With tonight's effort he has now gone over the 180 IP mark in 3-straight seasons.
