Player Notes
May 14, 2008
The Cubs used offense to get the win over San Diego, 8-5, this evening, but the work of LHP Ted Lilly was not without merit. Lilly pitched six innings, giving up four runs (all earned) on six hits with just one walk and 11 strikeouts on the night.

Our View:Lilly entered May at 1-4 with 6.46 ERA. His ERA isn't going much lower, but he has three wins in a row to get his record to 4-4.
May 9, 2008
Ted Lilly surrendered a first-inning solo homer to Arizona's Chris Young, then gave up just two hits over the next six innings in a Friday day game at Wrigley. The left-hander allowed one run on three hits, walked two and struck out 10.

Our View:Lilly has continue to show improvement after a slow start, and today's effort following a underachieving road trip for Chicago, was just in time. Lilly earned his third victory of the season.
May 3, 2008
Ted Lilly earned his second win of the season on Saturday, as the Cubs topped the Cardinals 9-3. Lilly allowed three runs on six hits (two homers) over seven innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.

Our View:Lilly is now 2-4 with a 5.97 ERA over 37.2 innings, with 29 strikeouts. That was a solid outing for him against the Cardinals, but he still ranks as a marginal fantasy performer. He held a poor 1.50 WHIP heading into today's contest.
April 27, 2008
Ted Lilly, who was making his 200th career start, gave up two runs on four hits in six innings but lacked the run support to gain his second straight victory.

Our View:After second inning hits by the Nationals Wily Mo Pena and Wil Nieves Lilly and the Cubs relievers held Washington to only one hit the rest of the game. Nick Johnson started the second-inning rally with a leadoff single. Lastings Milledge moved Johnson to second with a sacrifice, and Pena brought him in two batters later with a two-out single to left.
April 22, 2008
Ted Lilly finally shaped up. After four rough starts that resulted in a 9.16 ERA, Lilly held the Mets to one run over six innings on Tuesday. The southpaw allowed four hits, walked four, and struck out four. He is now 1-3.

Our View:We could do without the four free passes, but we can't be too picky at this point. Lilly was a solid fantasy hurler in 2007, and we hope this outing gets him back on track.
