Brian Shouse filed for free agency on Tuesday, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:The 41-year-old lefty held a 4.50 ERA over 45 relief appearances with Tampa Bay in 2009. He could find work with a club looking for veteran depth in their bullpen.

The St. Petersburg Times is reporting that the Rays have activated relief pitcher Brian Shouse from the DL. Shouse has been sidelined since May with a left elbow strain.

Our View:Shouse will be a nice upgrade for the Rays' bullpen, as he has a 3.77 ERA in 19 appearances before the injury. His rehab stint went well, so look for the Rays to go to him regularly as the season goes on.

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Rays' reliever Brian Shouse is expected to rejoin the team on Monday after finishing his rehab assignment over the weekend. Shouse is nearly recovered from a left elbow strain that has kept him on the DL since May.

Our View:Shouse has looked good in his rehab stint so far, and the team will welcome him back on Monday when he is ready to go. Shouse will be the third lefty in the bullpen, joining J.P. Howell and Randy Choate, so he will probably be somewhat limited in duty for the rest of the season.

Rays reliever Brian Shouse pitched a scoreless ninth inning for Single-A Charlotte on Thursday, according to MiLB.com. Shouse is on a rehab assignment while recovering from a left elbow strain.

Our View:Shouse has thrown three innings for the Single-A club so far, and he has given up one run and struck out two. He looks to be recovering well, and he could be back with the Rays sometime in August if everything goes well. His fantasy value will be limited upon his return to the team, but he should be a nice addition to the Tampa bullpen for the stretch run.

Brian Shouse threw a 32-pitch simulated game on Friday , according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Our View:He is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday, and could start a rehab assignment soon after. The 40-year-old Shouse hasn't pitched since May 24. He is about a month away from returning, but won't be a great option in leagues with middle relievers once he is back.
