Player Notes
March 15, 2010
The Marlins were among the teams watching Mike Lowell's Grapefruit League debut Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:The Marlins have Lowell on their radar, but the level of their interest is uncertain as of now. He would provide nice veteran depth at the Marlins' corner infield spots if he proves to be healthy.
March 11, 2010
The Providence Journal reports that Mike Lowell (thumb) will make his spring training game debut this Monday. He had been scheduled to do so on Friday.

Our View:Barring another setback, his showcasing can begin. Obviously, until he is dealt out of Boston, he is only viable in AL-only leagues.
February 28, 2010
According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox are apparently serious about keeping Mike Lowell's bat around this season.

Our View:Sounds like they've changed their tune about the aging, oft-injured third baseman. But if they do decide to try and move him again, the Twins are still apparently very interested. They looked into Lowell earlier in the offseason, but the Sox would have to eat most of the $12 million he's owed this year.
February 24, 2010
Mike Lowell participated in throwing and defensive drills on the field Wednesday, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Lowell also hit off a tee, and will soon advance to normal batting practice. The veteran corner infielder knows that he will have to settle for a reserve role with Boston, and will try to raise his trade stock with a strong showing in spring training.
February 16, 2010
Mike Lowell will be used in a bench role by the Red Sox this season, according to The Sporting News.

Our View:This was to be expected after the club reeled in Adrian Beltre to cover third base. So it appears that Lowell won't be worth holding outside of AL-only leagues unless he gets traded.
