The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that reliever Scott Eyre will likely be activated from the DL on Sunday.

Our View:Eyre is rehabbing a strained calf and will pitch out of the bullpen for Double-A Reading on Friday before rejoining the Phillies on Sunday. Barring setbacks of course. Eyre has no fantasy value outside of deep leagues that feature holds.
July 1, 2009
Scott Eyre will start for Double-A Reading on Wednesday night as part of his rehab from a strained left calf, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:Eyre has been out since June 12. In 14 innings in 2009, he has a 2.57 ERA and ten holds. He is a decent option in leagues with holds and middle relievers, though he collects few strikeouts.
June 25, 2009
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, reliever Scott Eyre threw 26 pitches off the mound on Wednesday and reported no pain in his strained left calf. Eyre could be available soon after he is eligible to return from the DL.

Our View:Eyre has now thrown twice, once playing catch and this one off the mound, without feeling any pain in his calf. He will still likely need a rehab assignment, but he should be ready to go sometime next week.
June 21, 2009
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, injured reliever Scott Eyre played catch on Saturday and felt no pain or discomfort in his strained calf.

Our View:Eyre injured the calf nine days ago and is progressing nicely, but has yet to test it out on a mound. He is eligible to come off the DL on Friday, but stated that it may be a bit longer than that. He will make a minor league rehab appearance before rejoining the Phillies.
June 12, 2009
Updating a previous report, the Phillies have now placed Scott Eyre on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:This is bad news for the Phillies as their lefty specialist had posted a 2.57 ERA and .196 BAA in 25 games so far in 2009. Kyle Kendrick has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his roster spot.
