Henry Blanco's brother has been killed by a gunshot in Venezuela, according to MLB.com. Local police are deeming the case to be a kidnapping/murder. The Cubs have decided to decline Henry Blanco's $3 million option for 2009, according to the Daily Herald.

Our View:The Cubs will reportedly try to keep him at a lower salary. He would hold little fantasy value while backing up rising star Geovany Soto.

Manager Lou Piniella said he wants to give Henry Blanco one start per week as the temperatures rise, according to MLB.com. Piniella wants to rest Geovany Soto a little bit more.

Our View:Blanco is 8-for-25 (.320) this season, but is not worth holding up a spot on your roster for just one start per week.

Henry Blanco will start at catcher for the Cubs today, according to the Chicago Tribune. Blanco will catch for starting pitcher Ryan Dempster, and will bat eighth in the Cubs' order.

Our View:Blanco is 7-for-21 in limited action this season, with one RBI. He is not worth fantasy consideration for one start, especially with Greg Maddux pitching today against San Diego.
