December 2, 2008 Henry Blanco's brother has been killed by a gunshot in Venezuela, according to MLB.com. Local police are deeming the case to be a kidnapping/murder. The 39-year-old Carlos Blanco was being held for a ransom reported at 200 million Venezuelan Bolivares. Henry Blanco had been in negotiations with the kidnappers. Our View:Blanco or the Cubs are yet to comment on the tragic incident. |

April 7, 2008 Henry Blanco received his first start of the young season on Sunday. The Cubs coaching staff rested Geovany Soto and gave him a chance to practice his throwing motion to second base. Base stealers are 7-for-7 against Soto this season. Blanco was 1-for-4 in the win. |
