The Cubs purchased the contract of reliever Chad Fox from Double-A Tennessee Friday. The 37-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2005 and gave up four runs in his lone appearance for Tennessee. He did throw four scoreless innings at High-A Daytona. Fox replaces Kevin Hart on the roster.
April 20, 2008
Injured Cubs relieverChad Fox (right elbow) is scheduled to head to Class-A Daytona for a rehab stint on Tuesday, this according to the AP.

Our View:Retiring? Or is the veteran returning? Fox has the ability to add a power right arm to the Cubs pen, but his inability to stay healthy over the last half decade makes him more of a fan attraction -- than fantasy hopeful. Fox nearly called it quits in November of 2005 when he discovered he would need another TJ procedure, but like the Eveready Bunny, he just keeps going and going.
November 2, 2005
Chad Fox fears that if he needs another Tommy John procedure to repair his ailing elbow, he may not be up for the battle to continue playing, according to the Miami Herald. "I love the game and part of me wants to keep going," said Fox. "Well, all of me wants to keep going. But the realistic side of it [is] ... you kind of start to think `is it worth it any more?'"
May 17, 2005
The Cubs transferred Chad Fox from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL on Tuesday to create space on the 40-man roster for Enrique Wilson. Fox is out with an elbow injury.
April 30, 2005
Chad Fox will visit Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday to have his injured elbow examined, according to the Chicago Tribune. Fox said that he probably would attempt a comeback if he doesn't need reconstructive surgery for the third time. Otherwise, he will most likely retire.
