Player Notes
November 16, 2009
Ramon Hernandez has re-signed with the Cincinnati Reds, according to Fox Sports.

Our View:The 33-year-old Hernandez hit .258 with five home runs and 37 RBI in 2009. He appeared in just 82 games, however, after injuring his left knee on July 20. He is expected to be 100 percent healthy by spring training.
September 19, 2009
According to the Associated Press, the Reds have activated catcher Ramon Hernandez from the 15-day disabled list.

Our View:Hernandez had his knee scoped on July 21st, and is finally deemed fit to play. Before going down he was hitting .249 with five homers and 36 RBI. He has an $8.5 million option for next season, which the Reds would be crazy to pick up.
September 14, 2009
Ramon Hernandez could be close to returning to the Reds' lineup, according to MLB.com. Hernandez has started baseball activities and could be back as soon as this week.

Our View:Hernandez has been out since July after arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, but it looks like he will play again this season. Ryan Hanigan has been doing most of the catching in his absence, but he should see time behind the plate when he returns as long as his knee is healthy enough to play defense.
July 21, 2009
Ramon Hernandez underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday, and is expected to miss around four weeks, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:Ryan Hanigan will start the majority of the games in his absence, with Craig Tatum backing him up.
July 20, 2009
Ramon Hernandez's sore left knee requires surgery, and the veteran catcher will likely be on the disabled list for 4-6 weeks, according to The Sports Network.

Our View:The knee needs to be "cleaned out." Ryan Hanigan will now be the Reds starting catcher, with Craig Tatum backing him up.
