Offering Jason Marquis won't be enough to acquire David DeJesus from the Royals, according to BaseballProspectus.com.

Our View:If they cannot sweeten the deal for DeJesus, the source believes the Cubs will pursue Raul Ibanez over Bobby Abreu.

The NY Post reports that the Cubs will try to trade Jason Marquis.

Our View:The club re-signed Ryan Dempster, and would like to trade Marquis, who is owed $9.875 million in 2009. That would free up more money to land free agents, such as shortstop Rafael Furcal.

During the regular-season Jason Marquis won 11 games as a starter but in the post-season he will be coming out of the bullpen, according to MLB.com. "Starting is my passion, starting is what I feel my best at," Marquis said Saturday. "But we have four pretty good starters, too. We all have confidence in each other. They made a decision to go with the other four [starters], and that's fine."

Our View:The Cubs will go with a rotation of Ryan Dempster, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden and Tedd Lilly in the playoffs. Dempster will get the ball in Game 1 for the Cubs, who are looking to win the World Series for the first time in 100 years.

Jason Marquis has been dropped from his final turn in the rotation and Rich Harden moves back from today to Thursday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Sean Marshall is now slated for tonight. As a result, Ted Lilly makes his final start Saturday at Milwaukee, and ace Carlos Zambrano takes the hill Wednesday.

Our View:The changes would allow skipper Lou Piniella to open the playoffs with Ryan Dempster and Ted Lilly pitching the first two games at Wrigley Field on their normal rest. Carlos Zambrano and Harden would then slot naturally into the third and fourth games of the best-of-five series.

Jason Marquis did it all on Monday. He went 6.2 innings allowing four runs to pick up his 11th win of the season, and at the plate he knocked in five runs thanks to his second home run of the year, a grand slam.

Our View:Marquis was the first Cubs pitcher to knock in five runs in a game since Milt Pappas on August 11th, 1972. The guy can swing the stick, and he is a fair pitcher as well though he isn't going to bowl anyone over with his production on the hill. In each of the past five seasons, Marquis has won at least 11 games.
