Orlando Cabrera has officially signed his one-year deal with the Reds worth $3MM, according to the Sports Network. It includes an option for 2011.

Our View:The 35-year-old shortstop should prove to be a solid addition for Cincinnati, as he played in the postseason five times, and is a two-time Gold Glove winner.

Updating an earlier report, Orlando Cabrera has agreed to a one-year deal with the Reds worth $3MM, according to Tim Brown's (Yahoo! Sports) twitter page. It includes an option for 2011, also for $3MM.

Our View:The 35-year-old shortstop should have at least one more productive season left in him, and will likely benefit from playing his home games at hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. He returns to the NL after starting his career with the Expos back in 1997.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that free agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera will likely sign with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Our View:The Rockies are also in the mix, though. Expect a deal to get done very soon. In 656 at-bats between the A's and Twins last season, Cabrera hit .282 with nine home runs and 77 RBI. A move to the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark would likely ensure that he remains fantasy relevant in 2010.

According to Tim Brown on Twitter, free agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera is choosing between offers from the Reds and Rockies.

Our View:The Reds appeared to be the front-runners earlier today, but the Rockies have now jumped into the mix. Either location would likely give him a bump in production. Stay tuned.

According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, the Reds are "seriously" considering signing Orlando Cabrera.

Our View:Considering how long he has twisted in the wind this offseason, they will likely be getting him for a bargain-basement price. While he doesn't have the best plate discipline (.316 2009 on-base percentage), Cabrera puts the ball into play more often than not, and is a career .275 hitter. A move to the hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark should help, too.
