Bruce Chen leads the list of six players signed by the Royals to minor league deals on Friday.

Our View:Also signed were catcher Vance Wilson, first baseman Ernesto Mejia, and pitchers Adam Bostick, Devon Lowery and Francisco Rosario. Only Chen and Wilson are realistic possibilities to make the major league club.

Bruce Chen has been placed on the 60-day DL by the Royals, according to the Kansas City Star. He has a torn left oblique.

Our View:Chen won't be missed by the Royals or fantasy owners, as he held a 1-6 record and a 5.78 ERA over 17 games (nine starts).

Bruce Chen was mauled for five earned runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Tigers at Kauffman Stadium. He had four walks with one strikeout.

Our View:Chen struggled tonight, but was handed a no-decision as his teammates provided strong run support. Chen only earned one win over nine starts this season.

Bruce Chen has been moved to the Royals' bullpen to make room for Gil Meche in the rotation, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Chen only notched one win over eight starts, and holds a 5.28 ERA over 44.1 innings. Chen held little fantasy value as a starter, and is not worth holding as a reliever.

August 6, 2009
Bruce Chen finally picked up his first win of the season on Thursday as the Royals beat the Mariners 8-2. Chen went 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on ten hits while walking one and striking out four. He is now 1-6 on the season.

Our View:This is about the best you can expect from Chen, who has shown that he is only capable of average performances as a starter. He may be in danger of losing his rotation spot when Gil Meche returns, but there is no reason he should be owned in fantasy circles anyway.
