Player Notes
October 22, 2008
Luis Gonzalez is reportedly interested in returning to the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to the Arizona Republic. Gonzalez has said that money is not an issue, as he only made $2 million last year.

Our View:Gonzalez had a good year for his role with the Marlins this season. He was a spot starter in left field, and Florida used him as a pinch hitter frequently as well. He would be a good pick up for Arizona, but probably not for your 2009 fantasy team.
October 14, 2008
Luis Gonzalez intends to return for his 19th season in 2009, and he would like to return to the Marlins, according to MLB.com. "I'd like to," he said. "But I'll sit back and see what kind of options I have, and see what's right for myself and my family." Gonzalez wouldn't mind going to the AL as a DH. "It just depends on the situation. I could end up in the American League, and I'd be perfect for the DH," he said. "Obviously, I'm not going to hit as many home runs as I used to, but I think my extra-base-hit numbers will be there. I hit 26 doubles not playing every day. If you get 400-500 at-bats, I could very easily have been in the mid-30s or low 40s."

Our View:Gonzalez might not fit in the Marlins' plans. Either way, his days of being fantasy relevant are likely over.
August 31, 2008
Marlins outfielder Luis Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, but it was not enough as the Marlins lost to the Mets, 6-2.

Our View:Gonzalez cannot help fantasy owners much anymore, as he has hit just seven home runs and knocked home 42 runners on the year.
August 28, 2008
Luis Gonzalez had two hits and an RBI on Thursday night from the second hole in the order for the Marlins.

Our View:With Josh Willingham and Jeremy Hermida struggle to find any consistency, Gonzalez has found himself in the lineup in five straight games during which time he has produced at least one hit each time. He has no upside but isn't a total waste in NL-only leagues.
June 13, 2008
Luis Gonzalez is serving as the Marlins designated hitter today in their interleague game against intrastate rival, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Our View:The veteran doesn't move as well as he used to in the outfield, but he can still hit. Gonzo is batting .275 with five home runs, 25 RBI and 18 runs scored in 182 at-bats.
