Jarrod Washburn is not close to signing a deal with any MLB team, according to John Hickey's (AOL Fanhouse) twitter page.

Our View:There have been rumors circulating that Washburn was possibly returning to the Mariners, but no deal is imminent. He held a good 3.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 176 innings last season, but his fantasy stock for 2010 will remain in limbo until he signs a deal and his role is determined.

Teams are still garnering interest in Jarrod Washburn, according to Jon Morosi's twitter page.

Our View:Morosi does not believe a deal is imminent though, and also points out that the Mariners could use him. His fantasy stock won't be set until he finds a new home, which will hopefully come before opening day.

The Mariners "still make the most sense" for free agent pitcher Jarrod Washburn, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View:However, there remains a "difference of opinion over the money." Unless Washburn plans on retiring, expect that difference to be ironed out soon.

According to FOXsports.com, the Orioles have shown interest in free agent left-hander Jarrod Washburn.

Our View:Washburn was considering retirement, but would likely bypass that if he got a decent offer from the O's. They missed out on Erik Bedard and are still looking for a plug for the hole in their rotation, but Washburn's price would have to come down substantially for this to play out. He could be a disaster in the AL East though, so the O's are better off looking for other, more affordable options.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer confirms that free agent pitcher Jarrod Washburn is indeed considering retirement.

Our View:For whatever reason, Washburn just isn't drawing much interest this offseason. It could be lingering worries over his knee, or a belief that his excellent first half of 2009 was nothing more than a contract drive. With the Mariners and Twins both seemingly out of the running for his services, it's unclear where, if anywhere, he has to go.

Jarrod Washburn is reportedly considering hanging up his cleats if he does not get a favorable offer from the Twins or Mariners, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

Our View:The 35-year-old lefty rejected a one-year offer from the Twins for $5MM last month. The Royals may have some interest in Washburn, but may not be willing to offer him enough money to pitch for the struggling franchise.
February 4, 2010
Jarrod Washburn reportedly has not ruled out the idea of returning to the Mariners, according to Jon Morosi's (FOX Sports) twitter page.

Our View:The veteran lefty only went 9-9 over 28 starts last season, but held a 3.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He should prove to be a quality addition to the club that ultimately signs him, if not Seattle.

Jarrod Washburn reportedly has a short list of desired landing spots for 2010, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:Minnesota and Seattle are believed to be two clubs the left-handed hurler would like to take the mound for, and the list may not be much longer beyond that. The Cubs and Mets are in the market for starting pitchers, but it is uncertain if either has Washburn on their radar.
January 17, 2010
Free agent starter Jarrod Washburn isn't likely to land a deal similar to Randy Wolf's three-year, $30 million pact with the Brewers, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:He is hurt by a collapsed market, and his own second half collapse from 2009. While most will likely write off his struggles to his knee injury, he isn't likely to fetch more than $5 or so million per year in a two-year deal. The Mariners and Brewers are both interested.
January 8, 2010
It has been disclosed that Jarrod Washburn turned down a one-year offer from the Twins last week worth $5MM, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View:Washburn's rep (Scott Boras) believes Washburn is worth more than Minnesota's offer. He carried a 3.78 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 28 starts with Seattle and Detroit in 2009.
January 7, 2010
Jarrod Washburn has confirmed that the Twins are one of the teams he is most interested in signing with this offseason, according to MLB.com.

Our View:"They are close to home. They have a good team, and have a chance to do things as far as winning, going into the playoffs," he said. "That's something I'm looking for." If the Twins can afford him, he would go a long way toward shoring up a rotation that routinely struggled in 2009.
January 5, 2010
The Twins have made an offer to Jarrod Washburn and are awaiting a response sometime this week, according to CBS Sportsline.

Our View:Washburn had a resurgent first half of the season with Seattle last year but floundered after being traded to Detroit and is 35 years old. Still, he'd surely be handed a spot in a starting rotation, whether he lands in Minnesota or anywhere else.
