The Pirates are interested in bringing back Doug Mientkiewicz according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Mientkiewicz hit for a decent average in 2008, batting .277. However, he had almost no power cranking just two home runs with 30 RBI.

Doug Mientkiewicz has returned to the Pirates, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He has been on the bereavement list to be with his wife, who recently had heart surgery.

Our View:Mientkiewicz has been hitting well, but only holds fantasy value in deeper NL-only leagues, as he is forced to share time at the corner infield spots with the LaRoche's.

Doug Mientkiewicz has been placed on the bereavement list by the Pirates after his wife underwent heart surgery at Allegheny General Hospital today, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Nyjer Morgan will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill his spot on the roster.

Our View:We wish him well while he is away to attend to his wife.

Doug Mientkiewicz had three hits on Monday while knocking in two runs for the Pirates.

Our View:Mientkiewicz is currently batting .293 which would be his best mark since hitting .300 in 2003. Doug continues to do just enough to warrant attention in NL-only leagues despite the fact that he has only two home runs on the year.

Doug Mientkiewicz had a big day at the plate on Wednesday with a single and three doubles on his way to a 4-for-4 performance for the Pirates.

Our View:Mientkiewicz is hitting only .274 with a single home run in 164 AB, but he qualifies at first base and third base giving him value as a depth play in NL only leagues.
