Julio Lugo will miss the next 4-to-7 days of action after straining his groin on Saturday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:The Cardinals better hope Felipe Lopez doesn't get hurt, as now both Lugo and Brendan Ryan are nursing injuries. Stay tuned.

Julio Lugo will play second base and hit leadoff for the Cardinals in their Game 2 match-up against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers in LA.

Our View:Lugo will play in place of Skip Schumaker, who normally sits against lefties. Lugo isn't the prototypical leadoff hitter, so it will be interesting to see how he handles the duty today.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Julio Lugo will likely get the start for the Cardinals in Thursday's Game 2 against the Dodgers. Lugo will likely play second base if he is in the lineup.

Our View:Tony La Russa decided to go with Skip Schumaker last night against the lefty Randy Wolf, but Lugo has been playing in most games in which the Birds are facing a southpaw. If Lugo is in the lineup tonight, don't be shocked to see Schumaker return to center field, taking the place of rookie Colby Rasmus.
September 3, 2009
Julio Lugo went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run scored, and an RBI in the Cardinals' 4-3 loss to the Brewers on Thursday.

Our View:Lugo has been reborn in St. Louis this summer, and after being cast aside by the Red Sox, Lugo looks like he will contribute for the rest of the season in the Cards' lineup. If you are in desperate need of a middle infielder, it might be worth it to give Lugo a look, but be aware that he does split time with Brendan Ryan and Skip Schumaker.

Julio Lugo had a big day at the plate on Saturday. The new Cardinal shortstop went 4-for-5 with an RBI and was a homer short of the cycle in the Cardinals' embarrassing 14-6 loss to the Phillies.

Our View:Lugo is now 6-for-10 in his brief two-game Cardinal career and the Redbirds appeared to have caught lightning in a bottle with the former Red Sock. If he continues to hit like this count on Tony LaRussa finding a way to keep his bat in the lineup.
