Elmer Dessens has been promoted by the Mets from Triple-A Buffalo, according to TSN.

Our View:Dessens earned the promotion with a 2.31 ERA over 35 innings in the minors. The 38-year-old vet could help the Mets' bullpen, but his fantasy value is limited to deeper leagues that use middle men.

Our View:The 38-year-old veteran only saw three innings of action this sprin, and he has racked up just 38 innings of regular season work since 2006. It seems unlikely he will be a factor in the Mets bullpen this season.

Elmer Dessens is still in the mix to serve as a long-reliever with the Mets, according to the New York Times.

Our View:He is competing with Brian Stokes, Darren O'Day and Fernando Nieve for the final two spots in the Mets' bullpen. If Dessens does manage to make the club, he would not merit fantasy consideration. He allowed 10 earned runs and four walks over a mere four innings of relief in 2008.

Our View:The 37-year-old is 48-61 with a 4.52 ERA in 356 appearances, including 140 starts. The Braves will be his eighth MLB club. He could be used as a starter or work in relief, but isn't likely going to hold much fantasy value.
