Player Notes
July 3, 2008
Jose Guillen went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored in the Royals 10-7 victory over the Orioles on Thursday night.

Our View:Guillen has 14 multi-hit games in his last 26 starts and has his average up to .280 on the season.
June 30, 2008
Jose Guillen, who has been serving as the designated hitter recently because of a hip pointer, is back in left field tonight in the first game of a four-game series against Baltimore.

Our View:Guillen, the Royals most productive hitter and the heart of team with more fire than they probably should have, is hitting .280 with 13 home runs, 60 RBI and 37 runs scored in 80 games.

The Kansas City Star reports that GM Bill Bavasi, fired Monday, cited the decision last winter not to retain outfielder Jose Guillen as the biggest factor this season in the Mariners’ poor play. “It’s really ironic,” Bavasi said in a news conference after his dismissal, “that the person we’re missing the most is José Guillen.

Our View:The Mariners opted not to exercise a $9 million option to retain Guillen for this season. Kansas City got arguably their most valuable player.

Jose Guillen has returned to the Royals' outfield on Monday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:He has been slowed by a bruised left shin, and served as the team's DH on Sunday. The swelling has subsided, and he has been cleared to roam the outfield again. He has 20 doubles this season, and his running ability should not be compromised.
June 8, 2008
Jose Guillen had been questionable to play Sunday because of a bruised shin. Not only did he play, but he had a couple hits, including a home run. It was Guillen third long ball in the last two days.

Our View:Guillen got off to a painfully slow start but has made up for it over the last month. It appears the shin injury is a non-issue.
