Ramon Castro underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus, according to the Mets website. Castro injured the knee while on a rehab assignment recovering from a strained oblique. There is no timetable for Castro's return, although with only six weeks left in the season, the Mets could shop for another backup cathcer.

The sore knee for Ramon Castro turned out to be more than just a sore joint, according to the AP. Castro, who was already sidelined with a strained oblique, tore a ligament in his left knee. It is not known when he will return.

Ramon Castro, on the DL with a strained oblique, has now developed an ailing left knee, according to the New York Post. Castro was supposed to play in a rehab game last night but was scratched after he felt discomfort with the knee while doing pregame stretches. Mike DiFelice has been the Mets' backup catcher with Castro out, but he's only hitting .071 (1-for-14) in six games.
