USA Today's Bob Nightengale is reporting on Twitter that Astros' infielder Aaron Boone is likely to retire. Boone returned to play this season after undergoing open-heart surgery last year.

Our View:Boone was one of the biggest feel-good stories of the year in sports, and his return to the field was nothing short of amazing. He proved he could do it, and now he will likely head to the broadcasting booth, as he already made the transistion doing play-by-play for the Cardinals-Dodgers' NLDS series on ESPN radio.

Aaron Boone will make a start at third base on Sunday in the Astros' final game of the season. Boone is hitting sixth in the order.

Our View:With everything Boone has gone through this season, it's great to see him get the start in the last game of the year. He hasn't discussed his future plans, but it is possible that this could be his last game as a major league baseball player, depending on how his health issues develop over the winter.

Aaron Boone has been activated by the Astros', according to the Twitter page of beat writer Alyson Footer. Boone underwent open-heart surgery in March.

Our View:Boone has been with the team since last week, and he will be available to play starting with tonight's game. His comeback has been historic, and we wish him the best over the rest of the season and in the future.

Aaron Boone is set to rejoin the Houston Astros on Friday, according to USA Today. Boone underwent open-heart surgery in March, and has been on a rehab assignment since early August.

Our View:This is pretty remarkable comeback for Boone, as it was thought that he would never play again after the surgery. It's hard to believe that he will play a ton when he returns, but it is still a very good story.
August 10, 2009
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Astros' infielder Aaron Boone will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Monday with Double-A Corpus Christi. Boone is attempting to come back after open-heart surgery in March.

Our View:If Boone would return to the Astros this season, it would be nothing short of a miracle. After a surgery as severe as open-heart, many people thought he would never play again. He hopes to return to the team in September, and we wish him nothing but the best.
