Kerry Wood (right lat muscle) was scratched from a scheduled bullpen session today and won't pitch as originally planned on Wednesday, according to Indians beat writer Paul Hoynos.

Our View:Wood said yesterday that he'd pitch today and Wednesday, but it looks like the decision wasn't up to him. For now, he's still fully expected to be fine by Opening Day, though it can't hurt to continue to monitor his status.

Kerry Wood said that there should be no cause for concern after he was scratched from his scheduled appearance on Saturday due to a sore right lat muscle, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I'll throw a bullpen Monday and throw against the Reds on Wednesday night," said Wood. "We're just going to treat it like I threw on Saturday."

Our View:There's always at least a bit of reason to worry when Wood is scratched from an appearance, as he's been on the DL 12 times over his career, though it looks like this time can be looked past. Continue to draft him as the Indians' closer, even though there's been a few rumors that other teams are interested in his services.

The Cubs apparently have some interest in acquiring their old closer and starter Kerry Wood, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Wood is owed an albatross sum of $10.5 million this season, but the Indians would likely be willing to eat a large chunk of that in any potential deal. With the back-end of the Cubs bullpen fairly unsettled, they are a very probable destination should would indeed be moved.

Kerry Wood was scratched from Saturday's scheduled one-inning outing due to soreness in his right arm, according to team beat writer Paul Hoynes' twitter page.

Our View:The Indians are not concerned, even though Wood has a poor track record with durability. He looks to be day-to-day and the veteran closer shouldn't be dropped down fantasy draft boards for now.
