Player Notes
January 28, 2010
According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Ken Griffey Jr. is expected to be at full strength for the beginning of spring training after undergoing successful offseason knee surgery.

Our View:Griffey's recovery from having a bone spur removed from his knee has been impressively rapid, especially considering he's 40 years old. He was running ten days after the surgery and is apparently already in great shape. Perhaps now he'll be ready to improve on his .214-19-57 season from a year ago as the Mariners primary DH.
January 4, 2010
Ken Griffey Jr. is looking forward to his 22nd MLB campaign in 2010, according to USA Today. He re-signed with Seattle in the offseason and said, "We are going in the right direction. A couple of more wins, postseason, I do not have anything planned until like early November. Hopefully we can have a lot of fun and continue on the path that we are going."

Our View:Next season could also mark the last of his great career. Griffey Jr. is a 10-time All-Star and should have enough left in the tank to help the Mariners challenge for a playoff spot.
November 11, 2009
The Seattle Mariners have agreed to a one-year deal with outfielder Ken Griffey Jr., according to the Seattle Times. No financial details have been released by the team at this point.

Our View:Not a big surprise here, as Griffey said he wanted to come back for one more season with the M's. His role will be limited to mostly platoon DH duty next season, so he will not have much fantasy value once again.
October 26, 2009
USA Today is reporting that Mariners' outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to remove a bone spur on Monday. The expected recovery time for the injury is four-to-six weeks.

Our View:Griffey hasn't announced what his plans are for next season, but this surgery is minor and shouldn't affect his decision much either way. He hit 19 homers this season, and would likely be welcomed back in Seattle if he decides to play.
October 3, 2009
Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 19th homer of the season in the Mariners 2-1 win over the Rangers.

Our View:Junior needs a home run in tomorrow's regular season finale for his first 20+ homer campaign since 2007. He currently has 15 seasons of 20 or more bombs in his career.
