Mike Sweeney hopes to join another club after he clears waivers from Oakland today, according to the SF Chronicle. Sweeney said, "Hopefully, I'll pack up again and go to a contender, or I'll go watch the sunset on the beach with my wife and kids."

Our View:He was given an option of being released or being placed on the 60-day DL. He had trouble staying healthy this season, but provides a solid bat when he plays as he hit .286 over 126 at-bats.

The A's released Mike Sweeney on Tuesday. He hit .286-2-12 over 126 at-bats for the club this year.

Our View:The former cornerstone of the Royals franchise battled injuries again this year. We have to wonder if he may call it a career after his history with back problems.

Mike Sweeney has been activated from the disabled list and will join the Athletics, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Sweeney has solid numbers, but does not contribute enough to be worth much for fantasy owners.

It seems that first baseman/DH Mike Sweeney is close to returning to the A's after playing an entire nine innings in his rehab assignment in Triple-A, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Sweeney had surgery on his left knee a number of weeks ago. His fantasy value is limited because he only has 120 at-bats as a part time player.

Mike Sweeney, who is recovering from double arthroscopic knee surgery, went 0-for-2 with a walk at Triple-A Sacramento Friday, according to the SF Chronicle. He is 1-for-9 in his rehab assignment so far.

Our View:Sweeney is slated to return in early September, but fantasy owners should not be waiting for him. He isn't hitting well in his rehab stint, and he will be fighting for at-bats upon his return to Oakland.
