The New York Daily News reports that the Yankees are interested in trading Jorge Posada to get rid of his contract. He will make $8 million in 2006 and will receive a $12 million, 2007 option if he starts 81 games at catcher this year. In order to avoid the 2007 option, the team has discussed shifting Posada to first base and DH part-time to stay under the 81 games.

Jorge Posada said he hoped to be able to DH today and return to catching on Tuesday, according to the New York Daily News. He missed yesterday's game with a sore right shoulder.

Jorge Posada was out of the Yankees' starting lineup Saturday, a day after he was knocked over by Boston's Jason Varitek in a home-plate collision, according to the AP. "He had a jammed shoulder last night," Yankees manager Joe Torre said. "He tried swinging the bat, got treatment this morning and it just didn't respond enough for him to be a player today. He was able to do all the motions, but it just wasn't going to happen today."

Jorge Posada's strained shoulder looked fine on Tuesday night. He went 3-for-4 with two homers, one from each side of the plate, scored two runs and drove in four.

The New York Daily News reports that Jorge Posada didn’t need treatment on Monday after straining his shoulder over the weekend. Yankees GM Brian Cashman said that Posada could have played Sunday if he was needed. Posada is expected to be back in the lineup tonight.
