Jorge Posada underwent arthroscopic surgery Wednesday on his injured right shoulder in Manhattan, according to MLB.com. The operation was performed by Dr. David Altchek, and Posada will begin a rehabilitation program in four to six weeks.

Our View:Posada has been working in the DH role, but the team felt it was best for him to have the season-ending surgery following the acquisition of Xavier Nady.
July 28, 2008
Jorge Posada will have season ending surgery according to the Sports Ticker. He has a deteriorating right labrum in his shoulder.

Our View:Catcher Jose Molina will see the majority of starts in his place. He is hitting .228 on the season and does not offer much fantasy value.
July 23, 2008
Jorge Posada had been told that his right labrum is deteriorating and will require surgery, but he may be able to continue his season as a first baseman or DH, according to Yankees.com. The 36-year-old Posada has experienced a weakness in his throwing shoulder all season long and has ruled out catching for the remainder of the campaign, but the injury does not affect him as much when he is hitting, and with six months of estimated rehab looming, Posada must decide if he is willing to resume playing in 2008 at the possible expense of missing time in 2009. Posada said, "It's not about me. It's about the team now. How can I help the team? That's why I'm going to go through the rehab. If I'm able to hit, I'm going to try to do that. If I'm not able to hit, I'm going to have surgery."

Our View:Posada wants to help the team, but he is only hitting .157 (3-for-19) over his last six games, with no homers or RBI.
July 21, 2008
The Yankees placed catcher Jorge Posada on the DL on Monday due to a sore right shoulder, the AP reports.

Our View:If you've been reading the news lately, this update comes as no surprise. We may know as soon as Tuesday if Posada will need season-ending surgery.
July 21, 2008
Jorge Posada will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder on Tuesday, and he could be headed to season-ending surgery, ESPN.com reports. The backstop has been dealing with rotator cuff tendinitis and missed more than a month earlier this season.

Our View:Posada turns 37 this August, and we'd have to wonder if surgery would mean the end of his career behind the plate. But we'll wait and see if he actually undergoes an operation before discussing such things.
July 21, 2008
The NY Post indicates that Jorge Posada is likely headed back to the DL due to a recurring right shoulder problem.

Our View:It appears that Posada will be out at least the next couple of weeks, and potentially the rest of the season if surgery is required.
July 11, 2008
Jorge Posada got his wish for Friday night, as he will return to catching according to the pre-game lineup cards. He has not caught since July 3.

Our View:A return to catching means Posada will probably see more off days than he would see as a DH or first baseman.
July 11, 2008
Jorge Posada is not pleased with the Yankees' plan that has kept him from catching since July 3, according to the NY Daily News. Jose Molina has started the last three games at catcher, and Posada said, "I like to catch. Okay? I'm in the lineup and I'm happy that I'm in the lineup, but I like to catch. I'm a catcher. I'm not a first baseman and I'm not a DH. I like to catch, so I'm looking forward to catching today."

Our View:Manager Joe Girardi opted to go with Molina, as his arm is stronger than Posada's. Posada has also struggled to throw out runners since returning from his shoulder injury.
July 10, 2008
Jorge Posada said he will need another shoulder surgery after the season, according to the New York Times. He has been the designated hitter if four of the last five games, as Jose Molina continues defensive duties behind the plate.

Our View:Posada has only caught three of a potential 33 runners attempting to steal, while Molina has nabbed 24 of 50. For fantasy purposes, Posada remains a decent play, even with only three home runs. He still retains a .365 on-base percentage, and .282 average.
July 3, 2008
Jorge Posada hasn't been successful in throwing out runners trying to steal, and the team has taken notice, according to New York Newsday. "We're staying with three catchers for a reason, because we're still evaluating how he's coming through this," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

Our View:The arm issue doesn't seem to be impeding Posada's offensive capabilities, which is the primary concern for fantasy owners. The longtime backstop is still hitting .293 and though he only has three home runs, is a viable fantasy option.
June 6, 2008
Jorge Posada got through his first game in over a month on Thursday. His reward? A day off Friday. "He did fine," manager Joe Girardi said on MLB.com. "It's just that it was one of our patented four-hour games." Girardi went on to say: "I think for the next couple of weeks, you're not going to see him play four or five days in a row, but I think we'll get by that."

Our View:It makes sense that the Yanks will be easing Posada back into things, even though his fantasy owners probably won't like it.
June 5, 2008
Jorge Posada is in the Yankees' starting lineup today against the Blue Jays, according to the AP. He has spent more than five weeks on the DL with his shoulder injury.

Our View:Posada has not played in a game for the Yankees since April 26. He will bat sixth in the order in his first game back. He should be safe to return to your roto-lineups.
June 5, 2008
Jorge Posada is back in action for the Yankees, but it has been revealed that he is not fully healthy, according to the NY Post. He is capable of playing, but determined that he will undergo labrum surgery after the season. He said, "I don't think it's going to be 100 percent, but it's good enough. I think it's good enough to get going here. There's no discomfort. Obviously something's messed up in there. We're going to have to get that fixed after the season."

Our View:That means Posada's shoulder status probably will hover over him the rest of the season, which has 101 games to go. Longer if the Yankees make the playoffs. Posada believes the shoulder will strengthen throughout the year, so it could become less of an issue, however. The Yankees will continue to keep three catchers until Posada proves ready to handle more than two-consecutive starts.
June 4, 2008
Jorge Posada didn't start in the Yankees Wednesday night win, but he will be in the starting lineup on Thursday. Posada, who been out since April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis, is slated to catch Chien-Ming Wang on Thursday in the series finale against Toronto.

Our View:Jose Molina owners need to find another option for their starting lineups next week. He will return to his backup role and see action once or twice a week.
June 4, 2008
Fox Sports reports that Yankee catcher Jorge Posada was activated from the disabled list Wednesday. He won't start but he will be available off the bench against Toronto. Posada had been out since April 28 with right rotator cuff injury. "I don't think it's going to be 100 percent, but it's good enough," he said. "I think it's good enough to get going.

Our View:The All-Star catcher didn't start because he caught the previous two days while rehabilitating his throwing shoulder at extended spring training in Florida.
June 3, 2008
Jorge Posada, recovering from soreness in his throwing shoulder, could be back by in the lineup Thursday, according to the AP. He caught seven innings and went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a walk Tuesday in an extended spring game. "His arm was great today," manager Joe Girardi said. "So probably this evening after the game, maybe I'll talk to [general manager Brian Cashman] on my way home and might see him in there on Thursday."

Our View:Posada is scheduled for a day off from fielding Wednesday but could serve as the DH in another extended spring game if the Yanks decides it wants him to catch a couple more games before rejoining the team.
June 3, 2008
Jorge Posada caught six innings and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in an extended spring training game Tuesday, according to the AP. He has been sidelined since April 27 with a sore right shoulder. Posada tested the shoulder further on Tuesday, throwing out baserunners at second base. It was the third game in which he made throws to second base and his sixth extended spring training game overall.

Our View:Posada could be back Wednesday as a pinch hitter before getting back behind the plate shortly after that.
June 2, 2008
Jorge Posada went 1-for-3 with a walk in an extended spring training game Monday and remains on pace to rejoin the team this week, according to the AP. Posada made two throws to the bases in the game against Philadelphia’s minor leaguers. He made a throw to first on a batted ball near the plate that was ruled foul, and also tried to pick a runner off second. He said, "You keep working on things and try to throw. I threw the ball behind the runner and felt good about it. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow. Be ready for Thursday or Friday."

Our View:His status to resume catching for New York will be evaluated after playing in another extended spring game on Tuesday, but it looks like he will be ready to come off the DL on Thursday or Friday, as Posada estimated.
June 1, 2008
Jorge Posada won't return to the Yankees lineup until Thursday, at the earliest. "He will catch Monday and Tuesday in extended spring training, and if everything goes OK, he could catch here Thursday," manager Joe Girardi informs the New York Post. Posada is on the DL due to rotator cuff tendinitis, and he missed all of May.

Our View:Posada is making good progress in his extended spring games, but the Yankees clearly don't want to rush the veteran. Fantasy owners can count on him returning this week, but Posada might only play two or three times.
May 31, 2008
Yankees catcher Jorge Posada is looking and hoping to rejoin the lineup on Tuesday night, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Posada has been on the DL since April 26th with rotator-cuff tendinitis and has been working towards return ever since. On Tuesday night, hurler Joba Chamberlain is looking to make his first big-league start of the season and Posada reportedly feels good enough to give it a go in support of that cause, though the catcher claims he's just anxious to get on the field as quickly as possible and that night makes sense.
May 30, 2008
Jorge Posada is still scheduled to throw to the bases in an extended spring training game on Saturday for the first time since being taken down by a sore shoulder on April 27, according to the AP. Posada said, "I just hope everything stays the same and keeps progressing." Manager Joe Girardi added that Posada is pretty close to returning, and would like him to catch in consecutive games before he’s activated.

Our View:He could be back in the Yankees' lineup on Thursday or Friday, barring a setback.
May 29, 2008
Jorge Posada played in an extended spring training game in Tampa against the Blue Jays, and went 1-for-2 with two walks, according to the Journal News. He served as the catcher, but did not throw to the bases during the game. He participated in his throwing program before the game, and threw from 90, 120 and 150 feet and then to the bases.

Our View:Posada will be cleared to throw to the bases in an extended spring game on Saturday in St. Petersburg against the Rays. The Rays will be asked to run so Posada can test his arm. He could be expected back with the Yankees next week, likely Thursday or Friday, barring a setback.
May 27, 2008
Jorge Posada is going to take a big step in his rehab program for a sore right shoulder Thursday when he is scheduled to resume throwing to the bases in an extended spring training game, according to the AP. Posada said, "Another step forward. Get some at-bats, and now have a day off tomorrow and get ready to throw Thursday. It’s just a matter of getting ready to play games."

Our View:Posada hopes to rejoin the Yankees around June 3, and Thursday will be a big test for him.
May 26, 2008
Jorge Posada caught five innings and went 0-for-5 with a walk in his first extended spring training game on Monday, according to the AP. Posada said, "I got a lot of innings behind the plate, that’s all I wanted. I wanted just to get ready to catch again." Posada played catch before entering the game, and threw the ball back to the pitcher, but is not expected to start throwing to the bases until later this week. He added, "Probably Thursday or so I’ll start throwing again. I feel good enough to throw right now, but I’m taking one step at a time. First of all, get my legs underneath me and then get ready to catch, throw and doing all that."

Our View:Posada will play in another extended spring training game Tuesday. He is expected to be activated from the DL a week from Tuesday, barring any setbacks.
May 26, 2008
Jorge Posada expects to be activated from the DL a week from Tuesday, according to the NY Post. Posada, who is rehabbing his right shoulder, will start extended spring training today in Tampa Bay, with directions not to make throws until later in the week. Posada said, "I think Girardi is going to be a little careful with me at the beginning. Once I start playing, if I'm not hurting or anything, obviously I'm going to keep going."

Our View:Posada does not expect to make any minor league rehab appearances for the Yankees.
May 25, 2008
Jorge Posada is heading to extended spring training, according to the AP. He expects to play four or five games as he continues to rehabilitate his injured throwing shoulder. He will hit and catch, but not be allowed to throw during the first two games. If all goes favorably according to plan, he’ll add the throwing in his third game.

Our View:The Yankees hope to have him back within two weeks, and Posada noted it could be as early as June 3.
May 23, 2008
Jorge Posada will go to the Yankees' minor league complex in Tampa, Fla., for rehab of his throwing shoulder next week and could possibly rejoin the team in early June, according to the AP. The catcher hasn't played since April 26 because of soreness in the shoulder. "Sometime in the first two weeks of June would be something we would be hopeful for," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. "But is that realistic? I don't know yet."

Our View:We'll have to see how Posada's shoulder responds to the rehab before setting a real timetable.
May 23, 2008
Jorge Posada extended his throwing to 120 feet on Friday, Newsday reports. The catcher could be ready for a rehab assignment as soon as Monday.

Our View:Fantasy owners should expect to be without Posada for one more fantasy week. We'll continue to follow his progress.
May 21, 2008
Jorge Posada did some more throwing Tuesday, as he tries to work his way off the DL from rotator cuff tendinitis, according to the NY Daily News. Posada has been throwing at distances of 75 and 90 feet, though Manager Joe Girardi said the Yankees increased the number of throws he made Tuesday. Posada will increase the distance and number of throws during the week, and he could be ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week.

Our View:Posada would need to catch four or five games in the minors as the team needs to see how he bounces back after catching two in a row. The team previously set a target date for his return in the first week of June.
May 20, 2008
ESPN Baseball Tonight reported that Jorge Posada is "progressing rather nicely" in his shoulder rehab. The Yankee catcher had a scheduled day off Monday in his throwing program and is ahead of schedule in his rehab.

Our View:The team hopes to get him back from the disabled list the first week of June.
May 19, 2008
The Yankees are talking about Jorge Posada returning to the team in early June rather than mid-to-late June. He caught his first bullpen session on Sunday and is throwing from 90 feet.

Our View:After two straight drubbings at the hands of the Mets, ex-catcher and Yankee skipper Joe Girardi can't get Posada back soon enough.
May 18, 2008
Jorge Posada caught his first bullpen session on Sunday in his attempt to come back from an injured shoulder, according to MLB.com. Posada also made a series of throws from 90 feet.

Our View:There is still no target date for Posada, but considering how much time he has missed, one would be safe to assume that he will have to spend some time in the minors regaining his stroke.
May 12, 2008
Yankees backstop Jorge Posada, rehabbing at the team's minor league complex in Tampa, threw for the first time since going on the 15-day disabled list April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis.

Our View:There is still no definitive timetable for Posada, but this progress has been without issue according to RotoTimes sources.
May 9, 2008
Jorge Posada took batting practice for the first time on Thursday since landing on the DL with right shoulder tendinitis, according to CBSsports. He took 28 swings right-handed, and 26 from the left side.

Our View:He does not require surgery, but will be out until mid-June. He could start a light throwing program as early as next week.
May 2, 2008
Jorge Posada was ordered to not pick up a bat or throw a ball for at least the next two weeks, this according to MLB.com. However, the good news is that Posada will not need surgery on his injured throwing shoulder.

Our View:The understanding is that Posada won't return to active duty for at least 4-8 weeks. Jose Molina will see the majority of the playing time while Posada is out.
April 29, 2008
Jorge Posada, on the DL with a shoulder injury, was examined by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham Monday, and the films from the Andrews visit have been sent to Reds team physician Dr. Timothy Kremchek for a second opinion, which the Yankees hope to receive on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Posada would then be examined by team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon on Tuesday, and he was scheduled to see Dr. David Altchek on Thursday for an additional opinion. "Until all the doctors weigh in, I'm not going to guess and speculate," Posada said in a statement released through the team. "When they give me concrete information, I'll be sure to share it with [reporters]."

Our View:Manager Joe Girardi is optimistic that the films will not show any major structural damage and that Posada will be able to return to the club later this season.
April 28, 2008
Jorge Posada went to see Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham today, according to the NY Post. The results of Andrews' examination, which likely included a second MRI exam, were not presently available. The Yankees are hoping that Posada's most recent shoulder problems won't require surgery. Two weeks ago there was notably speculation that the diagnosis of a strained muscle was actually a tear in the labrum area.

Our View:Posada was placed on the 15-day DL and the Yankees recalled catcher Chris Stewart from Triple-A Scranton. He will serve as Jose Molina's backup. The team would reportedly seek out another veteran catcher if Posada ultimately needs surgery. We will keep you posted on Posada's status.
April 28, 2008
Jorge Posada is going to land on the DL for the first time in his career, according to the AP. He was battling a recurring shoulder ailment that limited his throwing ability. Posada explained, "An MRI showed a strained muscle, but there is more to it than that. I am going on the DL. We have to be smart about it. It’s very disappointing. It’s the biggest disappointment in my career, probably, being on the DL and not being able to participate in games. It’s really tough. I thought it was coming along, but it’s not. It’s something that we’ve got to find out what’s really bothering me and take it from there." Yankees' manager Joe Girardi did not confirm that Posada would be headed to the DL but said that it “probably” would happen, and Posada may pay a visit to Dr. James Andrews.

Our View:Jose Molina's fantasy stock will rise for the short term until Posada is ready to step back into his catching role. He is worth targeting, namely if you have Posada on your roster.
April 27, 2008
Jorge Posada (shoulder) is headed to the disabled list according to ESPN SportCenter.

Our View:Posada had an MRI on his shoulder Sunday and the tests revealed minor damage, but the Yankee catcher is unable to throw the ball to the teams satisfaction. More on Posada when the information is available.
April 27, 2008
The New York Yankees will take the field against the Cleveland Indians today without veteran catcher Jorge Posada , according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:Posada was originally slated to fill the 5th spot in the batting order and start behind the plate, but the Plain Dealer reports he is a last-minute scratch as Jose Molina gets the spot and bats ninth. We have yet to receive reports indicating injury or other specific concern for Posada, but it seems all too apparent the veteran catcher continues to battle for recovery from a strained right shoulder. He was out of the lineup for the Yanks on Saturday as well.
April 26, 2008
Jorge Posada is sitting out today's game against the Indians, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Jose Molina is starting at catcher, and Alex Rodriguez is handling the DH role.

Our View:Posada has been suffering from a strained right shoulder, and is still building his strength back up.
April 23, 2008
Give veteran catcher Jorge Posada his due, for the Yanks paid him big bucks to stay on this season and thus far he is making good. Posada went 4-for-5 at the plate in the Yankees' 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox this evening, hitting three doubles to gather two RBIs.

Our View:Posada now carries a .304 average, touting at least one hit in each of his last nine starts.
April 22, 2008
Jorge Posada started at catcher on Tuesday night. It was his first start behind the dish since April 8, as he has been dealing with a strained right shoulder.

Our View:It's too bad the Yankees are facing the White Sox, who attempt to steal a base about as often as Bill O'Reilly says something nice about Hillary Clinton.
April 22, 2008
Jorge Posada will test his strained right shoulder today by throwing and if the arm strength has improved favorably, he could start behind the plate against the White Sox tonight, according to the NY Post. Posada hasn't started at catcher since April 8.

Our View:Chad Moeller's fantasy stock will drop as soon as Posada resumes his role at catcher. It could rain in Chicago tonight however, so that could factor into his playing status.
April 20, 2008
Jorge Posada is expected to return to his spot at catcher next week, according to MLB.com. He could catch as early as the team's three-game series that starts in Chicago on Tuesday night, and Manager Joe Girardi commented, "I'd be surprised if he doesn't catch next week. I've seen the progress in his arm. I'm not smart enough to know that he'll be back at full strength next week, but just from the progress I've seen, it's encouraging."

Our View:This is favorable news, and the short-term value of Chad Moeller is soon to expire.
April 19, 2008
The Yankees report catcher Jorge Posada will play some at first base, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Regular first bagger Jason Giambi has been struggling to hit and manager Joe Girardi felt a change was needed versus LHP Brian Burres. Posada has struggled with a strained right shoulder and thus hasn't lined up behind the plate as a catcher since April 8th. Today, it will be Jose Molina at first base for the Yanks.
April 18, 2008
Jorge Posada tested his injured shoulder on Friday but it was determined that he wouldn't start at catcher on Friday and that he may not be back in the lineup on Saturday either, this according to MLB.com. "We'll see," manager Joe Girardi said. "It's day-to-day. I just believe one day he'll say, 'It's back.' But we're not at that day yet."

Our View:Posada has been limited to DH duties of late, though he does have a 7-game hitting streak going at the moment despite just a .268 batting average.
April 18, 2008
Jorge Posada remains stuck at DH, but he could be back behind the plate on Saturday. "We are pushing for Saturday [in Baltimore]. Ask me about it Saturday," he tells the New York Post. Posada hasn't started at catcher since April 8 due to a sore right shoulder.

Our View:Posada owns a seven-game hitting streak, so we're all for keeping him at DH.
April 16, 2008
Jorge Posada made around 45 throws in the outfield yesterday, while testing out his strained right shoulder for the second consecutive day, according to the NY Daily News. Manager Joe Girardi noted that he will not be getting a cortisone shot, and Posada commented that he felt better and is getting closer to resuming his role at catcher.

Our View:This is favorable news for Posada, and his fantasy stock should go back up soon.
April 15, 2008
Jorge Posada is considering a cortisone injection for his ailing shoulder, according to the NY Post. He has been playing at DH as he is not ready to handle the strain of catching yet and noted, " It's 50/50 (a cortisone injection) would work because of where the problem is. Where the problem is isn't where the shot would go, so it's 50/50. I am considering it."

Our View:Either way, he still holds fantasy value while working as the Yankees' DH. Jose Molina may be ready to handle the catching role in about a day or two as well.
April 13, 2008
Jorge Posada will throw on Monday to test his sore right shoulder, MLB.com reports. He hasn't been behind the plate since Tuesday, but he has stayed in the lineup at DH.

Our View:Posada's bat hasn't suffered, so fantasy owners shouldn't be terribly concerned.
April 12, 2008
Jorge Posada will serve as the Yankees' DH again today as they battle the rival Red Sox, according to the Boston Globe. He is set to bat sixth in the lineup.

Our View:Jose Molina will continue to fill in at catcher until he is strong enough to return.
April 12, 2008
Jorge Posada won't likely start at catcher during their current three-game series with the rival Red Sox, according to NewsDay. A shoulder strain has drained his arm strength and he commented, "I'm not ready, but it feels better. It feels pretty good, but I didn't air it out." He could still handle the DH role, which he did last night.

Our View:Jose Molina should continue to hold favorable fantasy value through the weekend, as the Yankees' starting catcher.
April 11, 2008
Jorge Posada will serve as the Yankees' DH tonight against Boston, according to the Providence Journal. He will not catch due to his shoulder ailment, and Jose Molina will make another start at the position.
April 10, 2008
Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada went back-to-back with long balls in the ninth inning off Hideo Nomo, who replaced Bale for his first appearance in the majors since 2005, while with Tampa Bay. Posada, who is still suffering from a shoulder sprain, served as the teams designated hitter.
April 10, 2008
Jorge Posada returned to the lineup card on Thursday and will be the Yankees designated hitter in the final game of a three-game series against the Royals. Posada, who was thought to be headed to the disabled list with a shoulder injury, is not ready to return to his catching duties and likely won't be until early next week.
April 10, 2008
It appears that Jorge Posada will avoid the DL, according to the NY Daily News. The team received encouraging news on him, as an MRI exam revealed nothing more than a strained right shoulder. Posada noted, "It's good news that it's not worse. I was worried because my shoulder is part of what I do. I had surgery in 2001 and I was worried that it was going to be the same. I'm happy that it's not." Posada stated that he expects to miss the next three or four days, although Girardi commented that he could miss a few more days than that, and added, "I really believe he'll be back in there in a week. We'll have to wait and see. I tend to be a little more conservative. You don't want to run him out there until he's completely healthy." This is good news for Posada, and the fantasy value of backup Jose Molina will begin to decline.
April 8, 2008
Jorge Posada's right shoulder injury may force him to the DL, according to MLB.com. The catcher was removed from Tuesday's game in the sixth inning after feeling a recurrence of the stiffness in the shoulder that has plagued him recently. He'll have an MRI Wednesday. When asked how the shoulder feels, Posada responded: "Dead. It's like I've got no strength." The Royals stole four bases Tuesday off Posada, and manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that having Posada behind the plate would now be a weakness. Journeyman Chad Moeller is at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and would likely get called up should Posada need a DL stint. It sounds pretty likely that may be the route the Yankees take. We'll keep you posted.
April 4, 2008
Jorge Posada was originally supposed to catch Friday night, but he told the team during warmups he wasn’t ready, according to the AP. Posada was in the DH spot instead and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts at the plate. Perhaps he should have waited another day or two to return from his shoulder injury.
April 4, 2008
Jorge Posada is in the lineup tonight in the DH spot. He had missed the previous two games with a shoulder injury.
April 4, 2008
Jorge Posada, who tweaked his shoulder in the Yankees' season opener while throwing to second base, was scratched about an hour before Wednesday night's game and was held out Thursday's scheduled event as well, this according to the New York Daily News. Posada's injury is different than the one that sidelined him for a few days during the spring. Skipper Joe Girardi said there was a "good shot" that Posada would play tonight [Friday] against the Rays.
April 3, 2008
Jorge Posada is out of the lineup Thursday for the second straight day because of a stiff right shoulder, according to MLB.com. He is expected to be available as a pinch-hitter. Posada is able to hit and exercise, but is not permitted to throw yet. "They want me to rest," Posada said. "It doesn't hurt at all, even hitting or anything. We'll find out tomorrow when I throw. It's better because, obviously, there's no ache. The stiffness is gone too. It's just a matter of finding out tomorrow what it feels like." Jose Molina started in Posada's place. Expect Jorge to be back in the lineup sometime this weekend.
April 2, 2008
