Player Notes
October 10, 2008
The Milwaukee Brewers have yet to decide whether or not they will pick up the option on center fielder Mike Cameron's contract, and will wait until they decide what to do with GM Doug Melvin, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.com.

Our View:The Brewers have five days following the World Series to make up their minds. The option is for one year at $10 million, which is a bit pricey for a guy who hit .243 and struck out 142 times in just 444 at-bats, which is nearly once every three ABs.
October 4, 2008
Mike Cameron will be with the Brewers for Saturday’s Game 3 of the NLDS against the Phillies even though his wife underwent an emergency surgery on the previous day, according to the AP. Cameron left the team early Friday when he discovered that his pregnant wife was forced to undergo an unexpected C-section in Atlanta, delivering a baby girl.

Our View:Cameron is expected to be in tonight's lineup as the Brewers try to ward off elimination while trailing Philadelphia 2-0 in a best-of-five series.
October 3, 2008
The New York Yankees may be interested in having current Milwaukee center fielder Mike Cameron man the same position for them next season, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Milwaukee won't pick up the $10 million option on Cameron's contract after the season, which will make him a free agent. Still a quality defender, Cameron also hit 25 home runs and stole 17 bases this year.
September 24, 2008
Mike Cameron will bat leadoff tonight for the ninth time this season according to the Journal-Sentinel. He is 10-for-15 with three home runs against Paul Maholm.

Our View:Cameron is hitting .239 on the season so he seems to be a bizarre leadoff selection. However, he clearly has owned Maholm to date so we'll see if manager Dale Sveum's decision pays off.
September 16, 2008
In the first notable change from Ned Yost to Dale Sveum, the Brewers interim manager has center fielder Mike Cameron hitting leadoff for the team's game against the Cubs, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:This seems like an odd choice, as Cameron is noted for his strikeouts, and his OBP, .335, is mediocre. The paper also notes that Cameron does not have good success against the Cubs starter, Ryan Dempster, as he has just three hits in 13 at-bats (.231) off of the right-hander in his career.
