Edgar Renteria is hoping to stay healthy in 2010 after being bothered by a bone spur in his right elbow last season, according to the Associated Press. He said, "I can play like Edgar Renteria again."

Our View:Renteria batted a career-low .250 last year, which forced the team to go with Juan Uribe down the stretch. The 34-year-old vet is now excited to get going in spring training, and is no longer hindered by pain in his elbow while swinging the bat. He should have enough left in the tank to bounce back fine this year.

Edgar Renteria is slated to undergo season-ending elbow surgery on Saturday, according to the Mercury News.

Our View:Renteria will have bone chips removed as part of the arthroscopic procedure. The 34-year-old vet ends the 2009 campaign with a .250 batting average over 124 games.

Edgar Renteria will return to the Giants' lineup for tonight's home game against the Rockies, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He missed three games with a sprained AC joint and biceps tendinitis.

Our View:Renteria was deemed fit to return to action, but is not hitting well enough right now to consider for fantasy duty.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Edgar Renteria underwent an MRI on his ailing shoulder Tuesday, which revealed a sprained AC joint and biceps tendinitis.

Our View:Renteria has been bothered by the injuries for some time now and believes that he can play through them down the stretch. He's out of the lineup for Tuesday's game, but it was a manager's decision and Bruce Bochy said that he will start Wednesday's game. He's slumping badly this month though, so if you've been hanging on to Renteria in fantasy leagues, now is the time to cut him loose.

Our View:Renteria is not dealing with an injury, and skipper Bruce Bochy merely wants to use Jaun Uribe, who has been hitting much better among the pair.
